Ahhhhh Dysfunctionality
I've mentioned this here and there on the forums, but I have just about the most dysfunctional family on the planet.
Well, I might be exaggerating just a bit, but even after moving out I'm still going through a lot of drama with them, and I'm so stressed about it I want to pull my hair out. I'm trying not to make an ANGST!-worthy thread, but I'd like to know what kind of insane family conflicts you guys have been through... and how you've gotten through them. |

It might be a cop-out, but they're really not worth it. |
Thats all well and good if you don't live with them but if you do than it becomes more complicated.

In that case all you can really do is spend as much time as you can outside the home. Or just spend more time in your room away from them. |
Hey, that's what I did, and then when living there became too irritating {like dogs standing outside my bedroom window barking for an hour straight at 3 AM when I have to get up for work at 6}, I moved out. Not an option for everyone, but you young kiddies who are about to be starting college have that nice option of going away to college and living on campus, which is a good option and can be lots of fun.

It's times like these that I regret never learning violin...
I've been hospitalized on several occassions by way of domestic violence, often times requiring casting. In the lighter cases, only stitches. In the lightest cases, I'd wake up on the floor in the 'comfort' of my own home. It's all relative and I'm not claiming to have any worse a childhood than yours but I want you to consider that you aren't the first, you won't be the last, and should your drama prove sincere, get on with your life by moving out. If you aren't ready to function on your own, be ready to get ready and you won't get anywhere dwelling on yourself. |
