Toxic Sponge
Okay, my dumbass roomate heard on the radio that if you microwave a sponge it will kill 99.9% of the bacteria.
So she goes and puts a sponge in the microwave. Of course she doesn't think to wet the sponge first. So as a result she nukes the sponge and it turns into these repulsive fumes, which I assume are toxic? Anyway she got a whiff of this in the face when she opened the microwave and I was wondering if I should be worrying about anything right now. About her face, and about these absolutly disgusting fumes floating about in my house. Any chemists?! |
I think sponges are just made of acrylic, or nylon, or some sort of plastic. So it just stinks like hell, but it won't do any damage unless she breathes it all the time.

The best remedy for any exposure to toxic vapors is fresh air. Just go outside and clear your lungs.

Yeah, and open the door or turn the fan on or something. I'm sure that's a smell you don't want lingering about your house.

Ahaha that's the dumbest thing I heard/read today! I should give you a cookie. Or your roommate a cookie.
|
Did you at least eat the sponge to gain it's knowledge?

Lol. Yeah.... I could just imagine how much of the sponge was blown away. I think she needed to go on google and confirm what to do before attempting. At the very least she would have found out whether to water it or not.
Should be fine.... Microwave might smell for a while too. |
