Diaries

Who else has their own personal diary?

What I am talking about are the diaries that you write things down that you wouldn't tell anyone else. Something that you just have to get out somewhere so you write it down. The kind of stuff that if found you might be embarrassed.
I'm not talking about Chocojournals/LiveJournals though (unless those are the ones you solely write in because you don't mind making your thoughts public to millions of anonymous strangers)

I have one that I've been writing into for a little over 2 years now. It's not that it's big or anything, I just don't write much. I had a few stints where I wrote in it every night, recapping the day or what ever, but that got a little boring. So now I just write my little epiphanies or introspections whenever they come to me. I find it helpful, even liberating and therapeutic sometimes.

I can't keep a diary/journal and be completely open. It always turns into me trying to write out what's in my head, but never truly being able to write down EVERYTHING for fear of someone finding and reading it.

I used to write personal dairies too where I'd write things that I wouldn't show anyone (usually about love, family, school, etc)... though people always end up finding it and reading it. -_- (mom, brother, cousins, ugh !@#$) So eventually I started writing a "hateful" diary where I'd only write things that piss me off ... like people reading my diary. :P

I had a diary when I was about 9, but one day when I came home I found the lock broken and the diary opened. It turned out my brother read it and then showed it to my whole family. I wrote alot of personal things in it, mostly silly stuff, but after that incident I just gave up keeping a diary. If I have thoughts or problems, I just discuss them with friends now.

I've recently started a written diary. I found it really hard to find a book I actually wanted to write in. I've had several online journals but this seems to be the most productive, mainly since other people can't read it. It's very good for venting in ^_^

I have never kept a diary, I've never seen any reason to keep one, and I don't think that I will be starting one any time soon.

Writing down things that you don't want anyone else to know seems to defy all logic. My head is a perfectly secure hiding place for information that nobody else needs to know, and the odds of it being read by someone without my consent are slim to nil.

I find that keeping a diary or journal helps to sort out my thoughts and feelings. Additionally, I like flipping through and reading about the things that happened in the past (which I often don't remember so much because of my abyssmal memory). I recently started a personal weblog (I always seem to lose paper journals) which I'm more open in than any previous journal I've kept. I don't have any "friends" or anything like that on the site, no names or anything like that, so I don't worry about people finding it.

I've never had an actual journal before. I have online journals that I write in whenever something important happens in my life and I want my friends to know about as well, but there's never been any desire to write in a diary exclusively for me to read.

Yeah that happened to a friend of mine, which is of course why she stopped keeping a personal diary as well.
I encouraged her to start a new one, and hide it somewhere if she felt insecure about people looking for it.

I'm pretty lucky myself. No one goes through my diary--that I know of--even when I've kept it in open view in my room (albeit on accident).

I used to have my own diary of sorts, but I haven't posted in it for ages. Actually, I think its lost somewhere in my computer...

I've kept journals for years, but after a while I tend to read back over them and burn/shred them. I sometimes lose interest or just can't write in them for one reason or another, so there are gaps of months, more or less.

I've been keeping a journal since I was around eleven.

I destroyed quite a few of them because at several points in my life, I felt like it would kill me if anyone got ahold of them. A journal I had not even three years ago was held as blackmail. I think that's when I destroyed everything and started from scratch. However, I find myself re-writing those same events in my life in a different light. It seems lately I care not. I find it amusing how that works.

It seems the only place I can really figure things out for myself. I have to write my thoughts on paper to make issues in my life make sense. Maybe I'm just weird like that. But I guess it's not all just that; lyrics, poems, articles, rants, praises. Anything I've found relatively important that I've ever written tends to come from a journal.

I'm about ready to quit again, though.

I wish I could find my journals from when I was a child, it would make the autobiography class I'm taking this semester alot easier. I only had a couple though, and never really kept up with them. Like others have mentioned, my sisters would see that I had one and immediately search for it. When one shares her room with both her sisters, a hiding spot they cant find isnt likely.

lawl. boobie traps.

I used to keep multiple diaries, although I never kept up with any of them, it surely confused a lot people (including me) that which random books of paper was acually an diary. It was mostly writings or randoms stuffs then what happened on a certain day or how I felt towards something.

I do have online journals now, which I prefer over a physical book/journal.

Chibi Neko Feb 23, 2007 05:18 PM

I used to have on when I was a tween, but did not really keep private stuff in it, it was more of 'how my day went' kind of thing.

Dee Feb 23, 2007 06:08 PM

I used to have one when I was like ten years old. But I figured soon after a couple of years that it wasn't worth the risk of letting it sit in my room. It also felt like an obligation to write, so one day I just cut the entire thing into many pieces and threw it away.

Diaries are nice. I'll say that I have a Livejournal, but the friends categories on that make it a little easier to control who reads what. A lot of the time, when I DO journal, I end up telling my friends what I've written anyway.

I used to keep a lot of things to myself, but now I just tend to write it all down, to get it out, and then talk to some people about it. It's easier that way.

But still, journals are lovely things. It's nice to read back and laugh, cry or simply reminisce...

I used to keep a diary, but then I kind of got out of the phase. When I kept one I wrote in it every night and was in high school. There always seemed to be more drama in my life then lol. God I was sad. But since I left highschool 3years ago the drama died out lol. College was much more laid backa nd so is uni. Plus nothing interesting seems to be happening to me now. I have a very very very boring life.

I used to keep a diary years and years ago, but it became such a hastle to write in it every night, that I eventually threw it out.
