I'm just surprised that the same man was responsible for the one that was missing for four years as well.

It's one of those situations where you the thing you least expect comes out.

But then it makes me wonder. What has that kidnapper (so far no allegations of abuse has been levied to my knowledge so I'll leave it at that) been doing to that boy for the last four years?

Actually this reminded me of the story of that Austrian girl who disappeared for like eight (!) years and suddenly showed up last summer. It is intense how people, especially their parents can live with that.

This happened just a few miles from where I live, but the story is so weird. Local coverage explains more...well the guy worked as a manager for Imo's Pizza here for years.

Oddly enough, a neighbor saw the one kid outside all the time playing ball and apparently yelled at him to get his dad when he hit a ball through their window. The kid brought the kidnapper. 5 years is a lot of time for one of these sick bastards to warp a child...I hope he's mentally alright.

Apparently he did travel with the kid, and you'd think you would leave town after kidnapping someone local, but I'm sure there's some more weirdness to the story...

Mostly feel the same as what's been said - great (miraculous) news that the kid's alive and well(?), but you have to wonder just what sort of influence the guy would have had on the one kid over the course of 4+ years. Plus he's probably missed schooling, is out of touch with real society, and feels alien when placed back amongst his family and friends. I hope he can cope alright.

The kids are still teenagers. Imagine the emotional impact when there's a conflict between them and their real parents, wherein they claim their kidnapper was a better parent. Sucks for the parents of the older kid, because he's grown accustomed to something else.

So I wasn't the only one who thought of Steven Stayner as soon as this happened. I remember when the '89 miniseries came out that documented that. That was pretty intense.

I don't doubt that poor boy was probably molested by that creep and thats what makes this story terribly sad. He probably told him that he's kill someone close to him. One can only hope he didn't do anything to the younger kid as well. :(

I too hope he's able to adapt back into a normal life after all this.

Damn, four years? I think it's great that they were found (obviously), especially since most police precincts (at least in Calif.) would have closed the case by then.

I'm surprised neither of the developed Stockholm Syndrome (I think that's what that's called...)

I find it interesting that a lot of these long lost stories have come to a positive end lately. Is it just me, or is the coverage of missing peoples' has gone up considerably lately? Nothing else to talk about I suppose....
