Sega is taking legal action against YTMND

http://ytmnd.com/news/?news_id=56

This is hilarious. Sega thinks people will associate the bad Sonic YTMND websites with them so THEY MUST REMOVE THEM ALL.

http://ytmndsega.ytmnsfw.com/ Their response to all this wins of course.

Leave it to the professionals, YTMND!

Kolba Jan 12, 2007 12:51 AM

Yeah, that legal letter is just ripe to be harvested for ironic jabs, isn't it?

Sega's upset because they want to make Sonic bad all by themselves.

YTMND is muscling in on their turf.

K_ Takahashi Jan 12, 2007 02:04 AM

the song is tight.

Also, I might create a site, bandwagon like what?

No. Hard Pass. Jan 12, 2007 03:05 AM

Am I the only one who thinks that dude sounds like John Cena on his rap album? A couple really good rips, but I'll upload it for anyone who wants it. Geek rage always kills me.

YTMND RAP SON

Y'all saw the animals fucking, right?

S_K Jan 12, 2007 06:40 AM

Wow a videogame company already fucking up a franchise telling the internets not to help them... now I've seen everything XD

mortis Jan 12, 2007 10:02 AM

Even better. Did you check the letter? Technically, YTMND is suppose to give their site over to Sega. Yes, give their site over due to content made by other people.

I can understand Sega's concern, but giving their website over is idiotic.

I wonder if YTMND's owner can forward the e-mail to Something Awful's web owner. I am sure that will be dealt in a prompt, and reasonable fashion given the circumstances.

Conan-the-3rd Jan 12, 2007 10:15 AM

Ah so this explains Sega Megadrive collection's sudden no PAL'ness.

Gechmir Jan 12, 2007 10:19 AM

Whoa. First I ever heard about YTMND doing stuff making fun of Sonic. Anyone got any picture evidence? =d

I'm curious of what'll come of this~

Are you serious? Wow not only is Sega mostly crap now, they appear to be losing any signs of a sense of humour -_-

They should be made to give up sonic the hegehog as a mascot or he's good as frecking dead at this rate >.>

The Wise Vivi Jan 12, 2007 11:57 AM

I guess maybe I should jump on the bandwagon of wanting the website turned over to me because of using the www.borderlandracing.com website on a few of their creations...;)

Soluzar Jan 12, 2007 12:10 PM

Doesn't this fall under Fair Use: Parody?

The Wise Vivi Jan 12, 2007 12:18 PM

Hmmmm.... that is probably a possibility. I honestly don't see what SEGA is trying to do this for. I mean, does it REALLY matter or affect them THAT negatively?

It is kinda weird that it isn't Sega of America that's trying to sue them since they're based in, you know, the US which is also where YTMND exists.

Your point, well said :D

vuigun Jan 12, 2007 01:39 PM

Sega: "...so um, Sonic Next-Gen didn't sell so well so it must be YTMND's fault. Doesn't matter if that's the cause or not, we just need some money and fanboys aren't eating up our games like they use to. ;_;"

K_ Takahashi Jan 12, 2007 01:39 PM

I would think going after rom sites would be more cost-effective, maybe, maybe not.

Yes, Sega Europe are busting thier balls to make sure that we get a 50htz bordered version of SEGA Genisis Collection.

Why else would it be delayed so?

Because it needs to be translated into polish, dutch, portuguese, hebrew, greek and spanish first.

I belive that to be a lowsey excuse cause a: Nintendo did it within a month with Zelda:OOT and b: only the menus are translated in these collections.

Elixir Jan 14, 2007 07:07 AM

Nintendo aren't Sega.

Sega Of America goes bankrupt every two minutes or so, so I don't think Sega would have very much success having SOA bring suit.

Kael Jan 14, 2007 09:43 PM

Wow....just fricking wow. I do believe my belief in the collective intelligence of humanity has dropped several notches. Well there is only one thing I can say to Sega:

:wrong:
