The Ocarina!

I've noticed that one of the main advertisers (from Google AdSense) is the company that sells the Ocarina. Just out of curiosity, would anyone even play this instrument or has checked it out?

I play it on occasion. It's okay. Seems to attract the ladies and you can use it to call your horse sometimes.

Considering I have zero proficiency in any instrument, the answer is no. However, it would be a neat collectible kind of thing.

lol. Posting in a legendary thread.

This is a goddamn lie and you know it because they're pointing and laughing all the way to the night club... without you.

I have two ocarinas. One of them is an Aztec sculpture of a guy dressed in a jaguar skin, on all fours. You blow through the tail :(.
But really, it's pretty nifty if you don't play it. The other one is from Costa Rica.

Neither one would attract any kind of female.

Children of the forest do not lie.

Yeah, it pops up a lot, and I've always been mildly intrigued, but not enough to get one. I've never been very proficient at any wind instrument, so it would take too much learning, and I'm lazy. :p

Dreamshadow Jan 8, 2007 09:16 AM

Maybe this is one of those things where if someone has one right in front you, maybe just for a moment, you would consider playing it. 10 minutes after playing it for the first time, I can see someone putting it somewhere in their room and forgetting where it is. >_>

apparently there is a tenor and an alto ocarina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocarina).

I can't imagine myself being interested in playing this instrument. My interest lies more in stringed instruments than wind instruments.

I have the Ocarina modeled after Link's, and it was fun for a while, but it's so fragile and I don't really use it all that much. Doesn't work on ladies like a piano does.

I didn't know such a thing existed but after looking one up and finding this one, I'm tempted to get it if only to have it as a novelty Zelda collectible. Why? Because I'm a nerd like that. :p

Inhert Jan 8, 2007 06:45 PM

yeah in nintendo power there's always (or almost always) an full page advertising for the ocarina like in OoT, I'm tempted to get one, but only for like a collection, I don't think I'll play it that much XD

Nahual Jan 8, 2007 07:40 PM

I would play it. I think it would be pretty nifty to use one in a song, or while walking. Because I'm cool like that.

That's exactly the one I got!

The Wise Vivi Jan 12, 2007 12:11 PM

I wish I have seen one, but unfortunetly no. I hear its quite nice to listen to. I play saxophone so an ocarina isn't needed for me. Would love to try it though.

Summonmaster Jan 12, 2007 03:05 PM

I'm not interested in an Ocarina, even if it's Zelda swag and all, simply because I've always associated to be a novelty instrument like a kazoo or recorder. Even though it probably isn't, then my second set of associations would be that one would need lung capacity and proper air control technique, much like the clarinet again, which I'm not inclined to develop any time soon.
