Goatees
So for the past 2 years or so, I've grown a lot of facial hair, but I've always shaved before it got too out of control, mainly because of job and attending church every week. Lately I've been kinda lazy though over the holidays, and people have been noticing and commenting on it.
I've been told it looks pretty good looking like my scruffy self in the morning. I always thought I just looked better clean shaven (what my girlfriend told me >_>"), but I wanted to try something new for the sake of it. So basically, I'm looking for advice as how to accomplish this: http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/8...ouchiphen4.jpg I thought it was pretty easy, just trim here and there, but going to read about it on the net, things just seemed so much more confusing than it had to be with all the fancy tools and stuff, yargh. Also, I don't know what exactly the cut looks like under the chin and on the undersides of the jaw. Also, any other discussions about goatees can go here :D. For science! :forscience: *waits for melf* |
I don't see why you need the type of specifics that you do. You have the basic idea of what you want to look like so just improvise the rest. An outline should be good enough, you shouldn't need a blueprint.
Beyond that it isn't very difficult at all. I just use basic adjustable hair clippers and a razor. You get the main hair to the length you want with the clippers and shave off everything else with the razor. You aren't performing brain surgery or diffusing a bomb, you're styling hair. You may make a couple of mistakes, but after that you should have it down pretty easily. |
My boyfriend has a goatee like the one you're showing in the pic. At first I didn't really like it because I liked guys clean shaved, but after a while it kinda grew on me, lol. And now I think it's better to let him to have his goatee because he would look more mature and older.
It depends on how you really wanna look, I guess. My boyfriend said he'd look like a ten-year-old if he got rid of his goatee. And apparently a lot of my guy friends said the same thing too. If you think you look more mature and better, it doesn't hurt to try a new "facial style", and maybe your girlfriend will like it later. =) |
Does anyone else notice that the guy in the picture in Greykin's post looks like Harima-Kun from School Rumble?

this doesn't really answer your question, but oddly enough I ONLY grow that way. I can't grow a full beard... the hair doesn't even grow there at all.
My problem is that it gets reall fuzzy.. how do people trim this thing? I don't nkow how to keep it tame. |
You trim it with clippers dude. Ones with an adjustable guard that allows you to set the closeness of the trim.

just picked up one of these at walmart. works like a charm
http://www.amazon.com/Wahl-9877-500-.../dp/B000GP5752 You sohuld get one! |
Hey that's exactly what I use. It works very well.
|
My facial hair grows like crazy and if I don't shave a week then my beard gets big and insanely itchy. I take it all off though. I hate how my beard hair grows in. It is very scruffy.
|
Man, I have the clipper team pack and everything but, sadly, I can't quite grow a goatee yet. The connection between my mustache and my chin beard is growing in so damned slow and it's just not enough yet. Another five years should do.

Random but in the intial picture in the first post that guys hair is pretty slick. Any idea what he uses? Perhaps pomade of some sort?
Anyone know the stuff that gives this kind of effect? I'm only used to useing clays and basic gel. |
Are you talking about his hair or facial hair? Because I can only really see the basic details of his goatee.
|
His regular hair.

Whenever I see goatees of that nature on asian people, I always think of those ancient chinese magistrates, with the cardboard hat decorated with dangly things.
|
It doesn't really look all that slick to me, rocketdog. Considering the picture he probably just got done getting his hair styled that way professionally. But, so long as you have the right hair for it, I imagine all it takes is some relatively expensive gel that keeps your hair in your desired style without plastering it. I'm not sure what the term is because I'm not female or gay, but maybe it lets it keep its body?

Yes, it was. I was explaining to you why I'm ignorant on the subject. It's a pretty strong stereotype/statistic that most men that cut your hair, style it, whatever, are gay as hell. That cool rocketdog?
|
Well, I'm gay and I couldn't tell you. If I was in school, I could ask some of the straight guys in opera. One has more product than his wife.
