Xbox 360 Future Titles

I'm about to buy an Xbox 360 (Gears of War pretty much sold it for me), but I have a small amount of reservation left that's preventing me from buying it right now. I haven't followed the 360 scene at all since I had no interest in the console, but now that I do, I'm wondering if there are any stand-out titles coming in the near future. Currently, the only games that I'm interested in are: Gears of War, Lost Planet, Bioshock, and maybe Halo 3. That's only 4 games and I'm not sure I want to buy a console if I'm only going to be using it for those titles. What are the other titles everyone with a 360 are looking forward to for 2007?

First Rainbow Six Vegas is a must buy.

Mass Effect, Resident Evil 5, Grand Theft AUto IV, Unreal Tournament 2007, Alan Wake, Banjo and Kazooie (probably), Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Forza 2, Brothers in Arms Hell Highway, Fable 2, Too Human.

Good enough for me.

Half Life 2 Episode 2, which will include HL2, HL2 Episode 1, Portal and Team Fortress 2.

Spike Dec 28, 2006 04:56 AM

Wow, Mass Effect looks insane; it's a Bioware title too. Sweet. Haven't checked out the other titles listed though.

Good news about HL2 coming with all those add-ons. I never beat HL2 and never played Episode 1 so that package should be awesome.

Plarom Dec 28, 2006 10:53 AM

I've been drooling over Mass Effect ever since I heard a Bioware title was coming to the Xbox! That is by far my most anticipated game.

One other game that hasn't been mentioned yet is Eternal Sonata. This upcoming RPG is being composed by some famous musician who's worked on a number of blockbuster RPGs. I wish I had more details about this, but I'm expecting this game to be extremely well done.

Crackdown is going to be released fairly soon and I'm expecting this to be very fun. Increasable super powers + Huge sandbox world = Win!

Next year is golden for the 360, most of the big name software releases have already been mentioned (except for Halo Wars)but note the fact that Mass Effect and Too Human are planned trilogies (so you know there will be more goodness on the way) also it's rumored that Gears of War 2 will come out in fall 2008. What hasnt been mentioned however is Live Arcade games and I am rather excited about Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Castle Crashers, and Space Giraffe.

Seconded. One of the best FPS's on the market with an insanely good deal of 5 games for 1. This is a must buy.

Also, Alan Wake. A 'psychological horror' by the likes of Silent Hill 2. I'm pretty interested in what this game has to offer so far, so try that when it comes out.

I wonder why they don't bother waiting until HL2 Ep3? Either way, I would be interested in that once it's released, along with Halo 3, Project Sylpheed, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon and the upcoming Castle Wolfenstein game.

Duplicating the entire solo experience for the co-op game by making sure nothing is left out has been our greatest challenge. In addition, the programming team begged us to keep the players together at all times. However, we wanted the core goal of player freedom to extend to the co-op game, so players can go anywhere and do anything anytime. The programming team also insisted that we shouldn’t include vehicles that travel at well over 200mph in a fully streaming environment, let alone a co-op one, but we did it anyway!

Persistence is obviously a big feature of a game like this: if the player stacks a bunch of explosives somewhere then he expects them to stay and if he totals a block’s worth of traffic then he expects the carnage to stick around. We’ve balanced the level of persistence rather than pushed it to the limit because we found that if we go too far then the world becomes too devastated to be fun!

We haven’t blown our budgets on a handful of extremely detailed characters or vehicles. Instead we’ve created a previously unseen world where thousands of people and hundreds of vehicles are visible at any one time in an environment that, from the always-accessible rooftops, can be seen in full.

One of the great things about the co-op feature is that players can dip in and out of each other’s games at any time. Games can be opened up to accept join requests from anyone or just friends if preferred.

For real? I would actually consider picking this game up for that.

galen Jan 3, 2007 10:16 PM

Haha oh wow.

hey guys our game is looking pretty average kind of like grand theft superhero so how can we appeal to TEH MASS MARKET

oh i know, halo 3 beta key!

*Sales of Crackdown skyrocket*

Worked for the original Zone of the Enders!
*Everyone buys it just for the MGS2 demo*
*Zone of the Enders 2 flops*

If only Luigi's Mansion ahd done the same thing... :(

guyinrubbersuit Jan 13, 2007 01:28 PM

Isn't Assassin's Creed going to be on the 360 as well? If so, that game looks really, really sweet.

Oh and Mass Effect for sure. That game sold me the 360.

Gecko3 Jan 17, 2007 03:17 PM

Well, since no one's mentioned it yet, Dead Rising is also a fun game on the 360. That is, if you like killing zombies while being stuck in a mall full of them.

galen Jan 18, 2007 02:47 AM

Yes but it's already out, and this is a thread about games which will be coming out in the future.

TonyDaTigger Jan 19, 2007 07:26 PM

Yes, the OP is asking for future games - but if you haven't followed the scene, it would be useful to know what has been out as well - since there was more to play than just GoW.

These are my personal top picks that made the XB360 worth owning:

-Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
-Dead Rising
-NBA2K7 (limited market, but best basketball game since like ever)
-Gears of War
-Rainbow Six: Vegas
-Oblivion
-Assault Heroes on XBLA
-Street Fighter II on XBLA
Yes, I've put enough virtual quarters to pay for the machine itself.

Upcoming titles that I am interested in:
-Halo 3
-Castlevania SOTN on XBLA
-Blue Dragon
-Lost Odyessy
-Mass Effect
-Army of Two
-Guitar Hero II

GHII is multiplatform as well as Army of Two but regardless it's games I would of been pro PS3 about that I don't have to be. I'd check the review sites for some of these titles as well to get other impressions.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jan 21, 2007 06:18 AM

Guitar Hero 2 has been out for ages hasn't it?

Ah I see, it's been out on the PS2 for ages, not the 360. Carry on.

Newbie1234 Jan 24, 2007 12:58 PM

If you're a fan of old-school games, the Xbox Live Arcade titles are just great. I sometimes think that I've spent more time on those games than actual 360 ones. The leaderboards, enhancements and achievements really make these games a whole lot more interesting than they would be otherwise.

The next XBLA title that I'm really looking forward to is Castle Crashers (Newgrounds people who made Alien Hominid), but I think it'll still be quite some time before it'll get released.
