Game return? 'k just wait a month.

My poor original copy of Project Gotham Racing 2 that I bought only 5 months ago got damaged with some kind of... I dunno, it looks like the internal reflective layer got corroded or something in part of disk's edge so I took it to the store where I bought it (Media Markt) to be replaced since it under the warranty. The warranty is pretty explicit, if the game is broken take it to the seller and either get a new game or the money.

Upon explaining and showing the problem, the lady told me to wait and talked with someone. After a while she took the game and said it would go back to the suplier to be examined if the damage was caused by manufacturing defect or 'other causes' and will take some time up to a month...... this is pretty much throwing on my face that I might have damaged the game on purpose to get the money back. :argh:

Now the f*cking game only costed 15€, how hard could it be to give the damn cash and take the game? And why would I go such lengths just to get 15€? If it was any other object, even if far more expensive this kind of fuss wouldn't happen, but since it's a game we have to be sure if our client isn't trying to return a game that he ripped now don't we?

Then the corporations and their fanboys wonder why there's so much piracy, and why so many persons don't give a f*ck about the 'moral objections' of using warez stuff. If I knew where to get a warezed copy of this game and knew that it would take this long to solve such a simple tiny problem, I would've just downloaded the game and move along.

This kind of nonsense paranoia over copyrights is really getting on the persons nerves, especially when it happens to you, you almost feel like you're begging a favor when returning a non working game and that the right thing to do is buy another copy of it instead of complaining.

So I ask, did you guys had this kind of problems too? What did you do (asides sitting and waiting)?

You should know by now that Media Markt is pure evil and not trustworthy at all.

Oh, and I never had a problem like that before. Sucks for you, though.

Reminds me of EB Games... Bastards sold me a demo of Dark Cloud 2...

I can understand why they would not want to give the money back right away. Granted, at one point, I felt the reasons were silly (this was back in the time when DVD burners were 1X and cost over 400 U.S.D., let alone the DVD's were almost 5 U.S.D. each),

However, I think it is moronic and just bad business if one does not wish to replace the game with the same game within a reasonable amount of time. My advice, when you get the game, tell them that you'll be doing all your shopping online, that you'll "spread the word", and if you really needto, complain to their hire ups.

I do all my shopping online already, I only got this game from them to go with my Xbox. Yes I bought my Xbox 5 months ago, it was cheap, only 94€.

I don't physically buy games anymore, just order them. I've never had a problem with stores like EB games.

Stores are getting more and more difficult to return stuff to. You just need to tread carefully with your purchases.
