KrazyTaco tries to vector with Photoshop

I really like collecting anime wallpapers, so it's only natural that I ended up wanting to learn how to make them myself. To do that, I went ahead and found a great tutorial on photoshop vectoring (Tracing technically I suppose). I just recently finished my first trace ever, it's of Ayu from Kanon (2006).

First off the original picture:

And then my own trace:

Comments for a first trace? This is far from perfect, since to me it looks entirely to un-detailed. If anyone has any knowledge about tracing and would be willing to give some advice please do. The mouth is kinda awkward because I really don't know what to do with it to make it look better. I ended up just taking the pencil and drawing a curve and having that be the end of it. Also, the glove is black because I screwed up tracing it way to late, and wasn't able to go back and fix it. It doesn't look that bad or out of place, so I just let it stay instead of restarting.

Not bad at all. How long does it take you to do a trace like that?

I aggree with The Wise Vivi, however Vectors arn't exactly Photoshops strong point at least compared to something like Illustrator,

Spoiler:
One of my first vector tracings about a year ago now although I spent a lot of time experimenting with the tool first, I traced the outline in Illustrator then coloured in pixels with Photoshop

The way Adobe added the feature to Photoshop it seems like it was more of an afterthought feature so everyone didn't have to get a vector based program to go with it. Nonetheless programs are kind of like builder tools we have our own preferences and I admit I've also been meaning to master vectors made in Photoshop when I get the time, so I'll share one of the best tutorials I could find to help out :D

Total time? At least a month. That's only because I took huge gaps of time, weeks, and didn't work on it at all due to frustration of not 'getting it'. I probably retried the image from scratch about 5-6 times. I can't say vectoring has a really small learning curve. I eventually made sense of what I had to do though, and ran with it.

If I hadn't taken long breaks, I probably could have done it in 1-2 days.
