Asian characters in Microsoft Word

I made this thread before but I guess it got lost in a crash somewhere -_-

In microsoft word, how do I change the language to Japanese to type in hiragana/kanji? I'm pretty sure the language pack and everything is on, but everytime I change the language to Japanese and start typing it goes back to English.
