Cereal Box Prizes

When I was younger, I remember looking forward to walking down the cereal aisle to see what new toys were available. My brother and I used to argue about who would get the prize.

Did you have any favorite cereal box toys? I remember how much I enjoyed collecting the rubber Flintstones stampers from Cocoa Pebbles cereal. There aren't any others I remember collecting.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch used to be and still is one of my favorite cereals and snacks. There was a time where (I think it was Cinnamon Toast Crunch) they packaged these "crazy straws" with them. They were these plastic straws that were shaped into loops/zig-zags/swirls/etc, and you could connect them together to make your drink follow a ridiculously long and convoluted path. I had at least 50 of these straw pieces, and connecting and using them was mad fun.

Chex Quest for the win. I'll never forget it. It was surprisingly good. I also had one of the worst headaches of my life the day I got it.

Crazy straws--best army men tube slide ever

Color spoons--never best mine. A Tododile spoon than not only changed color, but it made noise the first time you put it in your mouth (then it stopped working).

I still have the ninja turtles bowl that came plastic wrapped with the box. Haha. Wow, that's probably my favorite prize I got from a cereal box. That's probably the only prizes I remember getting in cereal boxes, the only ones that made me want to go out and buy cereal that is.

Definitely. No other prizes in a cereal box have ever come close, in fact, I consider it to be the only worthwhile "prize" to ever be inside a cereal box.

The fact that the cereal itself is badass doesn't hurt things either.

I remember the sticky octopi. remember those octopus that used to come in cap'n crunch, that you throw em at a wall, they briefly stick, and the slowly tumble down the wall? man I play with that till it was covered with all sorts of hair and dirt

I liked the spoons that turned color, (not sure what cereal that came from) the erasers that came in the froot loops, and the dinosuars that changes color from coco pebbles.

I loved the spoons that changed colours, they entertained me for hours and hours. My mum threw them away though. :( sad time for us all.

Pshaw. The best prizes are the PC games that have appeared recently in cereal boxes. They're not crappy games too, but stuff like Rollercoaster Tycoon. Wow.

In the past, though, I liked those pictures that changed when you moved them.

Way back in the day, I got some Gumby thing (I think) from a cereal box. I don't even know if I still had it; Gumby was so cool at that time.

Man, this brings back memories. I remember most of what you all have already mentioned. I recall asking for cereal solely based off of what prize was at the bottom and growing impatient when my mom told me I'd have to wait until the cereal was finished before getting the treasure!

I must have missed chex quest. I don't remember that *frown* and from the sounds of it, i totally missed out!

When I was young....wow its really getting to the point where I can say that (scary). Anyways...I used to love getting the things like Super Mario figures and hot wheels, and those crazy straws naz spoke of. Now what do they have? The things they stick in boxes these days...they might as well just stick in a unshaped piece of plastic and call it a toy. Ladies and gentlemen...we bring you...."the thing"!!!! What is it? Well...use your imagination. It's a sad...cheap....world :o(

The Wise Vivi Dec 8, 2006 07:42 PM

Yeah, I used to always look down the cereal aisle to see what was in a new pack of Fruit Loops etc., My mom was nice enough to let me get whatever cereal I wanted.

Although I was much older by then, when they started giving CD games and DVD movies out, I bought the cereal that had them. Always a kid at heart! :D

A PRIIIIIIIIZE?

OH JOY!

It's a MUDDY THE MUDSKIPPER CEREAL-BOWL CADDY!

JackTheRipper Dec 8, 2006 08:45 PM

A few years back I forget if it was Post or Kellog who put mini plastic baseball player bobble heads in the cereal boxes that I liked to collect.

Magic Dec 9, 2006 12:26 AM

I forget what cereal it was from, but I've got some kind of Mega Man trading card/sticker that I've had for years. Nintendo cereal was kind of like a prize in and of itself. Too bad I actually ate the stuff.

Dark Chocolate Dec 9, 2006 12:30 AM

I don't remember looking for prizes when I was little. But I remember getting computer games out of the cheerio boxes quite a few years back. I have a great yahtzee game!

Vemp Dec 9, 2006 05:35 AM

We never got cereal box toys. We don't have/buy cereals.

Krelian Dec 9, 2006 05:42 AM

For the period of maybe a month or two during which my parents allowed me regular cereals (instead of nothing but muesli and Professor Faggot Q. Boredom's Wheat-o-Matic Shit Bricks), I remember getting a pair of redblue 3D glasses. The back of the box was printed with stuff compatible with that shit, which I treasured for weeks before my mother told me to throw it out.

I also remember getting a Rubik's cube ripoff in a box of something-or-another. I actually still had that one until a year or two ago.
