Router -> Firewall
Hey ~
My ISP's shitty built-in router decided to stop working again this afternoon. It won't open the ports I tell it too no matter what I do. I'm sick of that shit, so until I find a solution, could you guys advice me some ultra simple software firewall? I just want it to open the ports I tell it to and close everything else. Don't want one of those per software thingie. Thanks in advance ~ |
I would too like a good firewall that does this; the only thing that comes to mind is the built-in Windows Firewall.

hey, that's true ...
Does it suck? Because that's also the only one that I can think that does that. |
I don't really know if it sucks; I just assume that it does mainly because the pre-SP2 version was not that good.
Give it a shot, I suppose. It will hopefully work fine until you can find a replacement router (or whatever). |
I'm still in SP1, and while it looks like what I actually want, it won't let me specify a port range ... <_<

I use Sygate 5.5 because of it's awesome application-level filtering. It's also a lot more resource-friendly than ZoneAlarm.
You could try out Tiny Personal Firewall or Kerio. I've heard that both of those are good as well. |
