When GFF came back up earlier this year, there was a bit of a rumbling about custom names coming back. Did I miss the latest update on that, or has nothing come about since the forums came back up? I still think that'd be the best way to bypass all the drama about people with namechanges TOTALLY RUINING THE FORUM BECAUSE CHANGING NAMES IS A MALICIOUS ACT THAT COMPLETELY RUINS THE COMMUNITY.

We'd probably have to kill bobo first though since he destroyed them the first time.

To be fair to bobo, he was working on this feature before he disappeared in August.

I'll see what I can do after my exams are over (and after I get the GFA beta up and running).

The custom display names feature? Surely you already coded that... or is there some new twist to it that I'm not aware of. See, the way you originally coded it was awesome. If Bobo just wants you to water it down, and make it substantially less awesome, then that would be kind of sad...

Oh, really? That was the whole reason I made this thread, I really wanted to know what was up. The last thing I knew was that he had taken it down, I didn't realize he was also working to get it back up.

Well, it will apparently have "a twist" or whatever it was he said. I guess basically we won't be able to use them unless there's a theme week happening...

Which is super lame, but I guess it's better than nothing.

I heard it's going to be incorporated this time next year, can anyone confirm.

I think we should hold off on this feature. I think getting GFA beta up and updating our forums to the most current version should take priority over custom names. Hopefully we can get these done before the end of the year.

But this all depends on if blah wants to do it or not because I don't know how.
