Double-jointed kid

I've seen some double jointed people before, but this guy takes the cake.

One of my friends can do the same tricks. It's because of a genetic factor that prevents one of the essential minerals from getting to his cartildge and ligaments, resulting in what you saw in this video. He's extra elastic, but he also lacks the tenacity of normal joints. This is to say that it's almost a guarantee that he's going to suffer from severe rheumatoid arthritis by the time he's 55. His joints simply can't withstand the long-term abuse that they're designed to because they'll be too stretched and worn to support a skeletal frame.
It's a lot like the elastic in your socks becoming loose after a couple years of wear.

So while it's a nifty parlor trick, people like this, collectively known as "Gumbies", will eventually pay for the novelty later in life through years of crippling neuro-skeletal pain.

OMFG! I can't believe what that kid can do. But I agree, he will be paying for it later. Moving your joints around like that cannot be healthy in any way shape or form.... Ewww....

This reminds me a bit about the chinese "snake girls", who twist and bend their bodies to the limit for show. I heard it's really painful, though, so they don't last very long and have to retire at a very early age. But while most of those girls have normal bodies to begin with, this guy obviously has an extreme defect. I would not take his place.

I have a friend who can do the arm unwind, but he starts with his arms just hanging, linked behind his back. As far as i know, that's the only one he can do, and doesn't look like a candidate for that bone thing Crash was talking about.

But oh geeze, i cringed at some of those. I couldn't imagine doing any of those.

Apparently this makes me cringe too. I can't imagine what it must feel like to be able to do that...I guess on the other hand, those who can do this can't imagine what it would feel like not to be able to do this.

Gawd, same here. I cringed a couple times, "Ahh."

I'm double jointed only in my fingers I think. So the last-end joints of my fingers I can bend forward a bit. Works best with my middle finger. If I try pretty hard I can bend it to a right angle.
