problems with my dvd-RW
I was trying to use my laptop today to watch some dvd's and it turns out that ALL of the disks i end up putting in start skipping or freeze altogether. It still plays music cd's (although the computer goes to a near halt when im copying them to my computer through itunes) and read/burn data cd's (although also, a lot slower than before, copying movies once took half and hour and now takes almost 2 hours just to read the image, if it finishes at all)
Specifics are: Windows XP, Toshiba Satellite Laptop Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2400 @ 1.83GHz 1.83GHz, 1.99GB of RAM DVD/CD-ROM drives -CY5611b YAF290X SCSI CdRom Device -DK4123S EEO410R SCSI CdRom Device -Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-841S I tried updating the drivers autmaticly (which didnt do nothing) and im trying to find if toshiba has any updates in their websites. If anyone has any idea of what may be causing the problem, please help! |
I'm guessing dirty laser? You can clean it with rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth or Q-Tip. If that doesn't help, I'd guess the drive is on it's way out.
