Weird Song Titles

Some song titles are just... well, you know. I personally always enjoy a little intelligent randomness. List some of the weirdest song (and movie, if you'd like) titles you've heard.

Relient K - May the Horse Be With You
Margot & the Nuclear So and So's - Jen is Bringing the Drugs
Margot & the Nuclear So and So's - Paper Kitten Nightmare
Juliana Theory - To the Tune of 5,000 Screaming Children

Wow, holy crap, ramoth! Those are very, very long-winded song names. I wonder how they fit them on the album cover? They probably have to abbreviate them.

"LWTIMWSKTINON"

"LWTIMWSKTINON"

The entire "album" is ten minutes. The longest song is 1:02 and the shortest is 0:22. Consists mostly of growling, knee slapping, acoustic guitaring and rock organing. The "genre" is Acoustic Black Metal. The guy who created the band is involved with another band called Anal Cunt. I suggest looking them up on WP -- I'm not gonna link it because, well, you'll see. One of the tamest song titles of theirs is: "Windchimes Are Gay."

There is work by La Monte Young titled: The Tortoise Recalling the Drone of the Holy Numbers as they were Revealed in the Dreams of the Whirlwind and the Obsidian Gong, Illuminated by the Sawmill, the Green Sawtooth Ocelot and the High-Tension Line Stepdown Transformer.

I guess it can't get much stranger than that for him.

Most of Zimmer's Hole songs, given their style of parody metal:

- The Hole Is The Law
- Two-Headed Anal Baby
- Death To The Dodgers Of Soap
- Gospel Sodomy Boy On Blow
- Satan Is A Gay Pornstar
- The Death Of The Resurrection Of The Death Of Metal

And the band with the most ridiculous name ever, Paracoccidioidomicosisproctitissarcomucosis:

- Infection Voluptose For The Aroma Of Vaginal Vomit
- Uroporfironogenodescarboxilandome Y Pustulandome Con Tu Anorgasmita Exaclorobencenosisticarial Sexo Traumatizante
- Putridexpulsion Diphyllobothrium Of The Vaginal Cavity

I've always been a fan of "The Glorious Liberation of the People's Technocratic Republic of Vinland by the Combined Forces of the United Territories of Europa" and "Thir13teen" by Type O Negative. I say the latter one as "thir-thirteen-teen".

knkwzrd Nov 28, 2006 11:15 PM

My pick has to go to "Making Love To A Vampire With A Monkey On My Knee" by Captain Beefheart, with a nod to Ass Coffee's "The Dry Land Just Wants Your Affection, Kissy Girl". Weird stuff, all around.

blue Nov 28, 2006 11:52 PM

I like that second one, knkwzrd. But who the heck names their band "Ass Coffee"??? (I kinda like it.)

Minus The Bear is pretty much notorious for their ridiculously random song names.

Lemurs, Man, Lemurs
Is That a Ninja Up There?
Thanks for the Killer Game of Crisco Twister
Hey, Wanna Throw Up?
You Kill Bugs Good, Man
Damn Bugs Whacked Him, Johnny
Let's Play Guitar in a Five Guitar Band
Monkey!!! Knife!!! Fight!!!
Pantsuit... Ugh

not so much for the title, but one of the best screwed up lyrics ever, and pretty damn catchy:

I don't think Engrish counts.

Progressive and psychadelic bands are pretty much notorious for this, so it is with great pleasure that I bring to your attention:

Dredg - Traversing Through The Arctic Cold We Search For the Spirit of Yuta
Dredg - The Tanbark is Hot Lava
Dredg - An Elephant is in the Delta Waves
Amon Tobin - Easy Muffin
Basically every Post-rock song ever made
Lemon Jelly - Staunton Lick
Our Lady Peace - Happiness & The Fish
Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Rob Zombie - Grease Paint and Monkey Brains
Saosin - They Perched on Their Stilts, Pointing and Daring Me to Break Custom
The Mars Volta (pretty much everything, but my favorite includes) Plant a Nail in the Navel Stream
Xploding Plastix - Treat Me Mean, I Need The Reputation
Boy Hits Car - As I Watch the Sun Fuck the Ocean
David Bowie - Bring me The Disco King

and finally, my trump card:
Porcupine Tree - Message From a Self-Destructing Turnip
Porcupine Tree - Baby Dream in Cellophane

Iwata Nov 29, 2006 12:20 AM

Demilich's " The Putrefyin Road in the Ninteenth Extremity (Somewhere Inside the Bowl" and " When the Sun Drank the Weight of Water ".

Meth Nov 29, 2006 12:22 AM

One of my favorite songs is called Mayonaise by the Smashing Pumpkins. They have lots of weird song titles, but Mayonaise is especially funny. A reporter asked Billy Corgan why he named the song Mayonaise, and he said, "I looked in my fridge."

Here are the lyrics:
Fool enough to almost be it
Cool enough to not quite see it
Doomed
Pick your pocket full of sorrow
Run away with me tomorrow
June

We'll try and ease the pain
Somehow we'll feel the same
Well, no one knows
Where our secrets go

I send a heart to all my dearies
When your life is so, so dreary
Dream
I'm rumored to the straight and narrow
While the harlots of my perils
Scream

And I fail
But when I can, I will
Try to understand
The way I can, I will

Mother weep the years I'm missing
All our time can't be given
Back
Shut my mouth and strike the demons
Cursed you and your reasons
Out of hand and out of season
Out of love and out of feeling
So bad

When I can, I will
Words defy the plans
When I can, I will

Fool enough to almost be it
Cool enough to not quite see it
Tall enough to always feel it
Always older, I'll always feel this

No more promise no more sorrow
No longer will I follow
Can anybody hear me
I just want to be me
When I can, I will
Try to understand
The way I can, I will

He wrote the song cause he had picked up a really cheap guitar for about 60bucks that made this weird whistle feedback noise. He figured that he'd just include it in a song instead of ditching the guitar altogether.

Those are definitely my favorite so far. What band is this, exactly? Is it obscure? What genre? I suppose I could get off my lazy butt and look it up.......................................

Admiral Amara Nov 29, 2006 12:59 AM

I am about to win the thread with the second track from Aphex Twin's Windowlicker:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/b/8...955cb1e820.png

That's the track's title. You cannot top that.

blue Nov 29, 2006 01:29 AM

Wow, you can't even TYPE the track's title. Slightly annoying, but math always makes me drool a little (or, more appropriately, people who can do math).

Hantei Nov 29, 2006 01:55 AM

From the Devil May Cry soundtack, just hilariously titled and worked out well with the tracklisting (I just noticed these recently too), well, specifically for 30 and 31. But year, 30 and 31 get the LOL from me.

14 - Masami Ueda - "Final Penetration (Underworld Stage)"
25 - Masami Ueda - "Bloody Bladder (Escape from the Underworld)"
30 - Misao Senbongi - "I'm Coming! (Escape)"
31 - Misao Senbongi - "Blue Orgasm (Blue Sky)"

Heh, actually I guess they're more sexual than weird.

Minus The Bear are, according to Wikipedia, "Indie rock, Jazz-rock". I'd have to agree. Good stuff there.
