not getting video
Alrighty, so today I had to do a complete upgrade to my system... which literally became me buying components for a new tower altogether. But we're running into an issue when firing it... not getting any video.
Motherboard: Asus P5N32-SLI Processor: Intel Duo Core 2 Video Card: nVidia GeForce 7600 GS We've gone over everything that we can think of... and we're coming up empty at this time. The monitor is an older CRT about six years old but had no issues earlier this year when I upgraded the video card in my old tower which was also an nVidia GeForce. Any thoughts... suggestions... troubleshooting tips... would be greatly appreciated. |
ypur pc start when power up and you hear any sound from Motherboard?
|
Further to RYU's questions, does the light on the monitor come?
|
no sounds from the motherboard... but we have a green LED lit up and the processor fan and the video card fan are spinning.
in regards to the monitor... the signal light is orange (no signal) from the time prior to turning on the PC to after attempting to boot (no idea if it actually is booting or not). |
I had this recently. Is the processor seated in the motherboard properly, and did you take the plastic cover off it?
|
seated in the motherboard properly... slots in two ends allowed the processor to go in only one way. And the only plastic around the processor was the shell that was removed prior to installation. ^_^
Brother is heading back up to his place to grab another tower and monitors... and we are going to begin the process of elimination and try to rule out the video card or motherboard or processor... Should be able to have results within a couple of hours (the time of a round-trip). EDIT: we've at least ruled out the monitor is sucking. Unfortunately there are no other towers that have PCI Express slots on the motherboards so we can't test the video card anywhere else. Currently CacheCrash is getting ready to go over the power supply, video card, and motherboard with a voltage meter to see if we are getting power to various areas. But for now we are beginning to think that the motherbard is bad somehow... |
