problem with winamp and new speakers
I got a nice 2.1 speaker set up for my laptop. Sound and everything works with every program besides winamp.
I had this same problem on my desktop when I got the 5.1 setup years ago, and I just went into the preferences and output and checked under my sound card "enable hardware acceleration" and it worked. But now, on my laptop, it doesn't let me check that option. So what should I do? Thanks. |
Check if all your drivers are up to date and you've installed the latest version of DirectX.
|
I already have the newest directX.
I tried switching the directsound output to waveout in preferences and it still didn't work, but I went to the master volume controls [the standard microsoft one on the taskbar] and for some reason "wave" was lowered all the way to the bottom. When I bring it up top I can hear sound! But everytime I play a new song, the "wave" option goes back to being muted. Why??! |
You probably have another sound mixer software installed. Needless to say, get rid of it.
|
Sound mixer software? What do you mean? Like soundblast and all of that crap that comes with sound cards? I know I have them on my desktop and there's no problem, but I'm sure I don't have them on this machine.
