Something Odd

My sister just got home from a friend's house and she told me that some dude just started following her on the freeway. Apparently this guy was going fast right behind her when she was on the freeway so she switched lanes. The guy switched 2 lanes and went next to her and gave her a bad look. He then went in front of her and braked really quickly. She said that he followed her for a while so she stayed on the freeway so that she would be somewhere with a lot of people driving. She called 911 and they asked for his car make, color, and license plate number which she was able to give them. He eventually stopped following her and took an exit and she was able to finally head home.

I have a few questions about this since being her brother, I got a little mad and worried about this. First, what do make of this? Does this sound like just some random asshole that decided to be an idiot and mess around with someone? My sister said she did not recognize him when he went next to her. Second, if he managed to get my sister's license plate number, would it be easy for him to use that information to find out our address or other information? And third, is there anything more we can do with regards to telling the police anything?

1. Road rage, maybe.
2. Yes, probably.
3. I don't believe so, not unless he has access to police equipment or the DMV.
4. Just tell them what happened. They probably won't do anything, but if you file a report and he gets pulled over it will come up when they pull his information.

Maybe your sister ran over Frogger without knowing it, and this guy was best friends with Frogger. Maybe he was planning on popping the question and the quarter to Frogger that night. It's a sad day for Frogger fans tsk tsk. :(

So galen and devoxy, should we call the police station tomorrow and report this or would the 911 call already have put his license plate number on record regarding this incident?

And Infernal Monkey, frogger wasn't a very good game anyway.

Seeing that the dude went out of his way to follow your sister, calling 911 was a good move. I'd go to the station if it happens again.

This reminds me of an Allstate commercial, in which it was described that there are groups of individuals who intentionally cause wrecks. The victim is in either the farthest left lane or the farthest right lane. One car travels at the same speed on the victim's side. The other drives at the same speed in front. Eventually, the one in the front plows down the brakes. The victim plows into the back of it.

To me, it sounds like this guy was trying to do some kind of variation on it. He finally realized he couldn't succeed alone and gave up.

Though Acro's theory sounds plausible, I'm thinking road rage too. Since driving alongside her to give her a dirty look goes with that pretty well. I doubt someone trying to cause an accident would give away their intentions like that. Does she remember at ANY point before the incident doing anything fucked up as a driver?

The whole thing read like something out of a Dean Koontz book.

Nah, I guess it's possible but to me it just sounds like some random asshole who didn't have anything else to do, so decided to screw with someone at random. People are extremely weird and dysfunctional so I wouldn't put to much worry into it.

I asked her if she cut anyone off before this happened, but she says she didn't. She's a passive driver so I don't believe she would do anything fucked up as a driver. She probably did something without realizing it though. But you guys are right, it's probably just road rage or someone being an idiot. =\ Thanks for the replies everyone.

Ender, consider this an official warning for trolling. Keep it up and you'll get a ban.

Such a Lust for Revenge! Nov 19, 2006 04:58 PM

Also, you can try and wait until you're a little more established before attacking that way. It just doesn't work anymore.

Skexis Nov 19, 2006 05:01 PM

I'd like to just skip to the end, if at all possible, where he condemns us all as closet case virgins whose lives will never amount to anything, and then spends all his time telling us how much we're wasting our time with message boards.

In before Ender's inevitable ban.

Xardion Nov 19, 2006 08:40 PM

In after I turn that into an av/sig for, honestly, no reason at all.

mindOverMatter Nov 19, 2006 10:20 PM

my friend loves to tell over and over again the story of how she was riding on her moder bike, waiting for a red light when some A-hole in an SUV started bumping her
then his tail light got caught on the storage rack of her bike and broke.

sounds to me like it's just a coincidence. If she gave the police all that info, then they would have known if it was a stolen car...and then they probably would have caught him anyway
