Looking for gun squad survival horror recommendations

I just watched Ghosts of Mars last night and remember how much I liked watching these survival horrors that include a squad of people, usually some law enforcement group or something like that, but the one commonality these people all have together is that they have guns, and they are usually fighting for their lives to escape from some place, monster, or something else. Most of the ones I've seen could probably fit into the science fiction genre as well, but I'm open to any movies that include a group of people with guns fighting for their lives.

Anyway, the only survival horrors that I can think of that include a gun squad are Predator (Arnold and his group of buff special forces fighting against the Predator), Ghosts of Mars (a group of police officers who were doing a routine prisoner pickup for relocation and end up fighting for against an alien lifeform that possesses humans), Resident Evil (I remember a group of people with guns and stuff checking out the facility to see what happened and end up fighting zombies), and Doom (another group of special forces soldiers that were sent to some science facility to see what happened and end up fighting mutated humans).

Anyone have any recommendations that fit this bill? A group of people with guns fighting for their lives? Most of them seem pretty cut and dry with how the plot develops though. It seems everyone in the squad will die except maybe one or two that make it out alive.

John Carpenter's The Thing, Alien I/II. Those are from the top of my head. Oddly, I'm a horror fan but can't remember anything. :tpg:

I think you may be too specific in your recommendations. If you said "survival horror", I could suggest a slew of things but - "gun squad"? Ehhhh.

While it may not be horror in the strictest sense, you should look into the original "Assault on Precinct 13". That may be of interest to you.

I highly recommend Alien/Aliens and Dog Soldiers if you're looking into survival horror.

Dog Soldiers is one of the few good werewolf movies, in which a squad of elite soldiers are trapped inside a farmhouse that is home to a pack of intelligent werewolves. You can buy it for $7.99 Canadian, so it's prolly a lot cheaper in the US.

I saw Dog Soldiers can't say I was a fan of it... but it does fit into the whole gun squad survival horror theme.

Dawn and Day of the Dead definitely fit what you're looking for.

Compared to other werewolf movies I've seen, DS is awesome :3 I don't really like any of the others.

Hard to tell what constitutes groups of people with guns.

Mostly, how many constitutes a group, must they all use guns, must they all be trained in said usage, must the movie be particularly scary?

Too many questions, but if I had to guess:

The Thing and Aliens are the ones that really come to mind. Both are really, REALLY awesome movies and rank highly for me.

There was a Japanese movie that I saw a while back that involved the Yakuza and zombies. It had a survival horror/gun squad feel to it.

Well, I'm open to other movies that have this sort of feel to it as well, so if you want to recommend to me those other movies you had in mind, Lehah and Jason, I wouldn't mind taking a look at them too.

If you don't mind the obviously jovial overtones, may I suggest Shaun of the Dead?

Also Battle Royale I. And II. Maybe.
