Annoying Cough that tickles my throat

Have any of you had this kind of cough before? I've had it for about 2 weeks now..

Here are my symptoms..:
-A tickle in my throat right below my neck
-Can't stop coughing, to the point where I use my full breath.
-A very dry cough

Even though I have this cough, I don't feel remotely sick or like I am getting a cold.. I can take deep breaths in and I can breathe fully out, so I know it's not asthma or bronc.

I saw my doctor all he told me to do is take some cough medicine and then see him in a few weeks if it doesn't go away.

I was wondering if any of you had this type of cough and if possible, what the hell did you do to get rid of it.. I feel like sticking my fist down my throat and scratching it haha

Thanks guys.

Yeah, that kinda cough where you feel it coming, suck in a load of air then splutter out a noise much like a middle aged smoking gambling addict who's furiously mashing the free coffee button on the poker machines combined with a fog horn. I know that cough!

Just keep your fluids up, drink lots of extremely cold or hot (well not too hot or you might burst into flames) stuff to help the throat itch of doom. Cough lollies work, too. Or maybe you could eat some glass!

I have that delicious cough right now. I have a tickle in me throat and I cough a lot. Especially at night times, I don't know why. But, I've had the flu for about a week now. So hopefully it'll go away soon. I just drink lots of water, and little medicine.

For me, this type of thing has always come about due to some type of post-nasal drip. Last year, it was because of a sinus infection. This year, I'm hoping it's not the same thing, because the medication for that was crappy. But, if you want to try something, get some sudafed. That'll dry it up if it's all just draining down your throat and making you cough, and that way it won't tickle your throat. My doctor gave me something akin to sudafed, just stronger, along with some amoxicillin to kill the infection, I believe.

Yeah, I get that every now and then. But it doesn't usually stick around very long. It usually happens at the worst of time too, such as when you are shaving, or in an important meeting, or in class, or something like that. I have had that kind of tickle cough when announcing at the racetrack. Boy, is it annoying.

I'm actually suffering through this right now as well. I had a pretty bad cold for a while, but that seems to have died off quite a bit, and now I'm just stuck with this constant cough. Sometimes it'll just go away for hours at a time, but for some reason it always seems to come back when I am trying to sleep. Really, the sleeping part has been hell... I can handle coughing constantly during the day, but when you depend on 3/2/1 hour naps to get you through some days, it kills you.

Just yesterday I tried to take a 3 hour nap before going into my second job, but I was coughing basically the entire time and I ended up getting no sleep at all. Right now, for instance, I'm going to bed soon, and the coughing is getting really bad again. Ugh.

Maybe try one of the throat sprays with anaesthetic... I use strepsils. That and icecream works for me.

I had that kind of cough too, a spoon full of molassus always works for me. a glass of water with a few spoon fulls of sugar works good too.

Im taking some cough mixtures right now, but I will try some of the remedies you've all suggested.. Wish me luck! I HATE THIS COUGH!!

Earlier today I went to KFC, and I was coughing so much she asked me if I needed a drink of water or if I was choking, I responded back while coughing that I'm fine lol... I can't seem to talk without coughing!

Sigh, is there NO END?!!?!??!?!?

I hate that. I used to get it every time i recover from a cold. Man it would suck all kind of balls everytime. One day it got so bad i ran to the bath room and got on all fours trying to catch my breath. It was bad, I didn't even know if i would live throug it. I hate it so much.

I've just got over a cold, and all of a sudden I have this same cough too. It really is the biggest pain in the ass. Not to even mention the throat.

That's usually how all of my coughs are. I've got it right now, just in time for the happy season...

I can't stand it when coughing gets that bad. Especially if at times your job requires you to speak over the phone.

I can empathize with you. I once had a cough for what seemed like 2 months! It was incredibly annoying and I'd often wake up each morning saying, "could it BE?! I think I won't cough today," followed promptly by coughing.

Let the cold takes its course and continue to visit the doctor if 1) it gets worse or 2) it doesn't go away within a week or two as he has already suggested.
