Deleting problem

Hey guys
I have a deleting problem that I don't know how to handle.

I have the following folders that I want to delete:
c:\program files\xerox\nwwia

I want to get rid of the xerox folder, but I can't. I tried these commands in dos:
c:\program files\> delete xerox
c:\program files\> deltree xerox
c:\program files\> delete xerox

Then I tried the same commands for nwwia.
The folder still won't go away. I tried to look for it in regedit, but I couldn't find it.

The xerox folder looks very suspicious and contain to files besides the subfolder nwwia (which don't contain no files either).

Can somebody help me out?
Are there any other ways to go inside the core of the pc to delete files...?

It seems I have that folder too. It doesn't seem to do any harm to my system.

I had a look on Google, and I don't think that you want to be deleting this folder

This directory is being watched by Windows File Protection, because it needs to protect the file xrxflnch.exe should it ever show up. (Why does the directory have to exist in order for Windows File Protection to be able to watch it? I'm told it's a limitation of the Windows File Protection engine. I suspect it may have something to do with the fact that the FindFirstChangeNotification function can't watch a directory that doesn't exist.)

Why is xrxflnch.exe so special? I don't know. My guess is that it's some file that is frequently overwritten by setup programs and therefore needs to be protected.

This sounds scary to me.
What if virus and trojans has this kind of protection. How the hell are we supposed to get rid of them?

Anyways, thanks for replying Domino.
If anybody else have another theory, please do inform.

I have this too. I think pretty much every XP install has it. It's nothing serious, if it bothers you so much you can always hide the folder.

You could always try going into Safe Mode and deleting it that way. Not terrific, but eh. =\

From another forum, I was able to find out the following information:

It is perfectly harmless so leave it alone. the same applies to the redundant frontpage folder in XP. That is there for people who have created webpages with 9x and frontpage express. the files that have been created look for that folder to hold tempory information, while they are being changed.

So it's basically a semi-useless component part of Windows, or at least the placeholder for said component in a fresh install.

That will avail you nothing. Since it is protected by Windows System File Protection (SFC) the files and folder will be restored the next time you boot, as soon as the system detects they are missing.
