[SOLVED] Icons to indicate whether you've posted in the thread
something in the thread listing that shows that you have posted in that thread
many forums have this feature and i find this useful it lets me keep track of which thread i've posted in while glancing at the listing also helps me know that if i'm not the last poster, that maybe someone replied to my own post, prompting me to check out the thread again i maybe a noob on this forum, but certain no noob to forums in general... google my name good feature you should consider to enable ps: nuts.. i still can't use emotes yet. gr... |
We do have that feature. It's the little check mark next to the name of the person who last posted in the thread.

Actually that checkmark goes to the first new post in that thread since the last time you were online. It certainly does not show what threads you have posted in.
|
The checkmark actually means that you're subscribed to that thread.
|
Yes, it means you have subscribed to the thread. If you do that, then it shows up in your User CP along with every thread you've posted in. It updates as new posts are put in your thread. If you don't see it, you must have subsribing turned off in your options. Set it to 'no email notification' and I think you should be able to see it and have it show up in your used CP.
And yes it does show which threads you have posted in as it is only listed next to threads that you have posted in. It is most certainly not next to any thread that I have not contributed to. |
so i guess i must use the subscription method
i thought that places more server load and space because it now has to keep track of every thread i post in oh well :) |
Do you have any basis for this statement, or are you just taking a wild guess?
|
Well he is certain no noob to forums in general, Blah.

The ignorance in this thread is giving me a headache. The checkmark has nothing to do with subscriptions. Nothing. At all.
|
So...could we please have a feature like the one the OP mentioned?

So there's a check box on the right for subscriptions and a check box on the left for viewing new posts?
|
The one on the left means you're subscribed, the one on the right means go to last post.
|
Holy shit, two freaking checkmarks. In any case, the one on the LEFT takes you to the last NEW post since you visited. You definately don't need to be subscribed to the thread, or have even posted in it. There is an ARROW next to the name on the right, and that takes you to the last post of the thread.
Edit: This is what I'm talking about. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...tled-1copy.jpg Although I guess it is more of a down arrow then a checkmark. Still looks like a checkmark to me though |
You could always go to your PUBLIC profile and check all your recent replies. The thread/topic title will be included as well as the message you entered. (At least part of it). And if it'll make you anymore happier, bookmark/favorite your public profile for easy accessing. /END

Hah, I didn't realize that vBulletin already had this feature built in a long time ago.
It's enabled now, but the icons suck. Will need to come up with replacements. |
Especially with the hot new icons. ;)
|
Wait, which part is enabled now? I've been using subscriptions for a long time and hasn't that go to first new post box always been there (like Nehmi's screenshot)?
|
Look further to the left.
|
|
Anything with an arrow attached to it never existed in the old version of the board. Arrows indicate that you've posted in a thread. Pretty spiffy.
|
Oh. Those icons are so worthless. SUBSCRIBE TO THREADS PEOPLE. :P
