Video Output Adaptors/Converters
So I'm trying to find a simple adaptor that converts component/RGB to DVI (or VGA), with both ends being female. The intended use would be playing consoles on my PC's LCD monitor instead of my crappy 34cm TV.
I can find plenty of component to DVI cables, but none are female to female. I assume that it would probably be easy enough to find a TV tuner card with component inputs, but that seems a little extreme to me. At present the best solution I can think of is- [RGB (M) output from console] - [RGB (F) - RGB (F) adaptor] - [RGB (M) - DVI (M) cable] - [DVI (F) - DVI (F) adaptor] - [DVI (M) input to LCD monitor] Female - female component adaptors I can get for like $5, DVI versions are a retarded US$40 for some reason. Feasible, but a just a little bit roundabout. Anyone know of a better option? |
Hum, those converter cables usually require a YUV digital component output. I'm pretty sure consoles don't output YUV to component and I'm positive they don't output a digital signal over component. This is usually reserved for projectors and the reason such cables exist.
You would need a scaler box in such a setup you are describing to convert the analog component signal to a digital DVI signal, but they aren't cheap: http://www.svideo.com/ypbpr2dvi.html Here is a 'cheap' model running for $280.00. |
