Tales of Legendia ~voice of character quest~ 2

Just thought I would start a thread to discuss the missing music from Tales of Legendia (and the original soundtrack itself)

Also, I haven't been able to find a tracklist of the 41 odd tracks on the drama cd special disc. I will scan the booklet to this thread (by which it may be moved - sorry in advance ^^)

Is it a possibility that the missing tracks will be arranged, or the arranged tracks on the ost have their sequenced versions on this cd?

I have received my order delivery confirmation email - so expect this soundtrack in a few days at best

I counted around 28 missing tracks that weren't on the OST. It's unlikely I missed that many, so I expect some of them to be drama tracks and/or the original tracks that were arranged on the OST, like the battle themes and the map song.

I certainly hope the original songs are there as well, because they sounded a lot better in-game.

Is it Shiina who wrote the music? I can email him direct and ask ^^

You can find the tracklist in Japanese at namco-ch.net/talesoflegendia/cd/ (copy/paste the url yourself as I'm still not allowed to post links lalalala...), you could ask someone to translate it.

Seems the original sequenced tracks aren't there. Let me try translating it...

01 Laid Back Lady - Pink Version
02 Bandit Holidays [US: Bandit's Lair]
03 Attack
04 Broken Wings
05 Strong Feelings [Strong Emotions?]
06 Bloodstained Throne
07 Betting Life
08 The Scallop Dance
09 Farewell
10 Concerto of Empty Time
11 Next to You
12 Ancient Capital
13 Lonely Night
14 The Scallop Song
15 Enemy
16 Soldier
17 Hotarubi
18 Oooh, Come on![*]
19 Morning on the Ranch
20 Unending Mist
21 Hurry!
22 Fireflies in Shadow of Leaves [US: Fireflies in Shadow]
23 Creeping Shadow [US: Impending Shadow]
24 More Jam for Toast [US: More Jam, Better Toast]
25 Sweet Dreams Tonight too [US: Sweet Dreams]
26 Oooh, Whatever[*]
27 Good Night
28 Unclosed Feelings
29 The Man in Red Armor
30 Tender Hand [US: Helping Hand]
31 Sacrificial Lamb
32 Awakening
33 Celsius
34 Pheromone Bombers' Theme #1
35 Pheromone Bombers' Theme #2 (Voice parts)
36 Pheromone Bombers' Theme #3
37 Pheromone Bombers' Theme #4 (Voice parts)
38 Pheromone Bombers' Theme #5 (Voice parts)
39 Pheromone Bombers' Theme #6 (Voice parts)
40 Pheromone Bombers' Theme #7 (Voice parts)
41 melfes ~ Shining Blue (Game cut ver.)

I took several names from the US sound test as they were pretty much the same, but some aren't. I believe the "Pheromone Bombers" are called Bamtam Bouncers or whatever in ToL US ver. (I haven't played it).
Track 18 is the regular Norma theme, and 26 is the alternate, but I'm not sure if I used the correct US names... (might be swapped)

Hope that helps.

Hey Dag, nice seeing you here ;) I allowed myself to add your tracklist translation to gmronline.com/info.asp?CatNumber=AVCA-22966~67 (copy/paste yourself lalalala...), anyone can correct it there.

They have retained the original boss theme's in game sequence, but the Vaclav battle theme has been arranged. No victory theme, or sequenced battle themes unfortunatly - best keep whatever rips you have of the game's music, i know there's one floating around somewhere... I am not sure with the other themes (though they're good) as I haven't (or may never) play the game.

Thanks Dag for the tracklist, I'll start the rip, and get this uploaded hopefully on Monday, but i can't promise a quick upload :/ sorry :P :(

I checked the CD with cube media player 2, and found just about every song in the game BUT the battle songs. I have no idea where they hid those. The battle songs but also the overworld map song were missing.

It wouldn't have done much good anyway, since most songs sound a bit distorted and I don't know how to fix that. About the only song that sounds normal is the oresoren village song.

The battles, victory and overworld themes are all sequenced rather than streamed. Meaning, it's possible to rip them in the PSF2 format, though nobody has done that AFAIK.

I'm not sure what you mean by distorted, but the songs in the game are sampled pretty low anyway (24khz I believe) so they don't sound too great.

seanne Nov 7, 2006 11:20 AM

Thanks a lot, buddy =D

DarkRavenX Nov 7, 2006 01:09 PM

Sweet been waiting forever for this, thanks a TON!

Dag Nov 8, 2006 05:18 AM

Awesome, thanks a lot! :) Seems it has several movie songs, but it's still missing a few tracks...

Hey Datschge, glad to see you around too ;)

Xellos: you can rip the music using other ADX ripping utils + an ADX player it will sound perfectly. Sometimes cubemediaplayer puts the wrong "start offset" and is distorted because of that, but you can change it around and it will sound fine too. There are about 90 ADX tracks (in ADX format, counting songs) + 10-12 battle tracks (sequenced, unplayable) + overworld (sequenced too). For whatever reason it seems the US version is missing (or rather, were 0'ed) a couple of ADX tracks, here they are: sendspace.com/file/ule7s1

Thank u ,Ryufan
What a pity.It seem missing Disk1 drama tracks.

Toma Nov 8, 2006 11:58 PM

Thank you so much! I've never played ToL, but it's great to get more music for it. Really good stuff, seems like a lot of it is arrangements of tracks from the OST, but it's right up there in quality so far.

It's not the quality of the song i'm talking about. It just sounds like it was recorded too loud. Obviously its not the case since they sound fine in-game. But that's what they sound like when you listen with Cube Media Player. Didn't find a way to fix this.

datschge Nov 9, 2006 11:20 AM

Export the native files and play them using in_cube in Winamp, that plugin doesn't play the streams too loud (actually rather too quiet if you enable some setting option included for especially loud streams).

hcs64.com/in_cube.html (as usual copy/paste url yourself lalala...)
