Digital audio connection between PS2 and PC (i865 PE onboard SPDIF)
For l33t audio ripping I just bought a cable to connect the PS2 and my PC.
Since my SB Live doesn´t have digital input, I activated the onboard SPDIF of my i865 motherboard, according to driver it is a Realtek AC97 solution. So far I don´t see a signal when I record with Cool Edit. The recording settings of Windows are set to the SPDIF source of the onboard sound, SPDIF is activated on the PS2. I see a red light on the PS2, a red light in the cable and a red light on the PC side. I still hear the sound of the game on my TV. Maybe I did something wrong? :eyebrow: |
Got a wiring diagram or photos of the setup? It might give us a better understanding of what is going on. The PS2 is set to digital out for sound? Just having the cable plugged in might not be enough.

I think I found the problem. Looks like the connector is only for output - it is even labelled SPDIF OUT. :(
The driver dialog is very misleading because it also shows SPDIF in, maybe because of a unified driver. Now where to get that upgrade for the old SB Live... I don´t think it is still available in stores. |
SPDIF In might be a coaxial input. If this is the case you can actually use a converter box just like what is being described in this thread.
