Cooking for a Japanese Mate
 

Hi all!

I'm a very rural Southern Boy (Alabama). My girlfriend was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. We currently live on different islands in the Caribbean.

So, here's my situation. She's visiting on Friday for about a week, and then flies back home where I will join her in December. I can get some ingredients, but there is no Asian Market or anything on this island, so anything too exotic may be hard to come by.

Does anyone have any recipe suggestions that she might enjoy? I'd like to cook her atleast one great meal before she leaves me for a month :doh:

Well, she came and went. With no help from you guys ;) I only prepared one real meal for us. I made pesto and put it on bowtie pasta with sundried tomatoes, and Dolmathakia (stuffed Grape Leaves). More of a greek inspired meal, I suppose. She liked it, although my sundried tomatoes weren't of the highest quality (hard to find them in the Caribbean).
