The tupperware thread

I decided the Kitchen needed a thread on tupperware. Yes. The kitchen lives up to it's new name, and I surrender.

I was wondering if anybody knows a tupperware container brand that doesn't melt in the microwave. I tried some cheap Dixie and Ziploc brand tupperware containers, and they both failed pretty fast and easy. I suppose I could resort to some Rubbermaid, but I like the disposability of the cheaper stuff in case something spoils inside, and... essentially becomes part of the container. Any advice?

Besides that, how much do you rely on tupperware? I use them for fresh herbs & spices, but beyond that, I try to avoid them altogether. It isn't like I resent them, but the only time it seems I use them is to bring some leftovers for lunch to work.

I haven't had any plastic containers melt while heating anything in the microwave. I've also used some of the brands you listed.

I have a nice supply of containers available, but I don't really use them if I bring food to school. If I do end up bringing anything other than a sandwich for lunch, I use a Japanese bento box instead. They've been a little more reliable from what I've seen.

I have never had a problem of microwaving my Ziploc Tupperware, Rubbermaid or anything that was marked microwavable.

Maybe your Mic gets super hot... like my old microwave on campus used to be... man, that was a piece of junk.
