Quicktime seems to hate my computer

This was a slight annoyance when I tried to view a few movie trailers that I wanted to see from any apple site, but right now, when I can't even watch anything on google video, or any other site that uses the quicktime format, I constantly get a broken filmstrip, and I always have with any computer I have owned.

The thing that I am not quite understanding is that I have the most recent quicktime application that one can have, and yet I continue to get a broken quicktime link no matter what I seem to do. I've twinked with the different settings, and still nothing. Is there anything I"m doing wrong? Or does Quicktime just think my computer sucks cock?

If this isn't the right forum, I'll understand if it's moved >.>

Have you tried using a different browser? For some reason my Firefox has never liked embedded flash or quicktime videos much. Also, you could try using QuickAlternative, which, although it probably won't solve your problem, will at least get QT off of your computer.

Can you watch downloaded quicktime videos without a problem?

I wasn't aware that Google Video required Quicktime. You said this has happened with more than one computer right? Are you behind a firewall (hardware or software)? Could be you're blocking whichever port Quicktime uses. A little more info about your computer wouldn't hurt either.

Well I typically don't use firewalls at all, if I am, then I didn't activate it or authorize it to be in place. My computer is custom built with a 1.8 ghz processor, 1.5 gigs of ram, a 6800 Nvidia graphics card and the works.

So all the quicktime streaming vidoes come up as a broken link, tho I believe I can play downloaded movies on quicktime, so I have no clue.

Things like ampersands, umlauts, and even apostrophes can break quicktime. Though my best advice would be really to try to get rid of quicktime and then install Quicktime Alternative. I'm not sure how much help it would be though.

I wouldn't use quicktime for streaming anyway. After you have QTA installed, you could use a player such as VLC to stream/play the files.

Well it just keeps saying that a plug in cannot initialize or some shit like that :/ I guess that's the main problem.

Another extremely noob question would be on how you use other media players to stream video from sites such as google video. I can't even watch Tunak Tun :(
