Hats

I'm currently in the market for a hat.

Actually, I already have several baseball caps jammed under the carpet or somewhere, but I've never been overly thrilled with the baseball cap. That's why I ask you, gamingforce (in case you forgot what site you were browsing). Maybe there is a type of hat out there that is made for me, but we just haven't found each other yet.

What hats do you wear? do you wear hats? you don't? what have your hats got on them? on a scale of 1-10 how essential are hats to your wardrobe/image? These questions and any others you can think of can all be answered in gamingforces first ever all purpose hat thread.

I have a spiffy Australian leather hat. I love it to bits, and it's really comfortable. I can recommend it.

Wrong order, first you have to ask whether or not someone wears hats, then you can specifically ask for any kinds, brands or types.

I usually don't wear hats, especially no baseball caps, because most honestly, I think they suck. I heard a lot of Poker players wear hats, though, so that other players couldn't see their faces (??)

I always wear a baseball cap when I'm in public. It is khaki-green and has my department's logo on it (Dept. of Geology & Geophysics). Got a nice field-pick image on the logo, too =D

The only time I don't wear a hat is in a situation where I can't, so they are pretty much essential to my wardrobe. The hats I wear are all Yankees hat and I change them when I feel like it... but once my hat goes into retirement, I dont wear it again.

I always wear the same hat...have been for almost two years. It's a baseball style hat, but it says "fishing club of *the town*" on it. it's so warn that it's not the same color anymore. And I think when people think of me, they think of that hat

I have a soft wool driver's cap from Ireland that I like to wear when it gets a little chilly outside.

I have a couple baseball type hats I wear. One is My Chevrolet Corvette Emblem hat, which I wear most of the time. Then I have a Borderland Racing Association hat which I wear at the track. And I also have a white Dodge hat which I wear when playing tennis outside during the summer. Its sweaty and salty.

Its sort of important for my image and my wardrobe. Some people say I look better with a hat, some say otherwise. I would say a 7.

I love hats. <3 My current one that I wear a lot is some military-style cap. The hat I wore a lot before that was some black pleather cap. It was cool. Uhh, don't have a pic except for a crappy drawing...

Whatever. It's not a baseball cap at least.

I always wear a black rabbit fur fedora with a large rim, I used to wear a beret, but I got tired of it...

In my opinion, there's nothing worse than a baseball cap, they boring, average and they make you look like a ten year old kid,
anyting is better than a baseball cap, even a deerstalker.

I forgot... for winter I picked up one of those "Fruits Basket" character hats with the animal ears. Amazing how much conversation can start over a silly anime hat.

I wear a lot of hats. I tend to avoid baseball caps, they're pretty gay. In summer I tend to wear fisherman style bucket hats. I've got a nice Plain Lazy one (Bought from the original Plain Lazy shop in Lewes no less) and a couple of others. This time of year I generally go for woolen beanies. I've got four black ones, all from army surplus shops and of varying thickness.

I poked it and it made a sad sound Nov 2, 2006 09:43 AM

God, I own a million hats. And they're never baseball hats. (Though I own one Red Sox ball hat)

I have lots of beret-sorts of hats (which you can sometimes find me wearing in photos). I have bowlers, I have cowboy hats, I have snug Eminem-esque caps, I have silly hats.

I love hats so much. I usually buy a hat whenever I go someplace far from home and I am happy.

I don't have a ton of hats because I have long hair and it really does make it look weird...I do own a couple of caps and beanies....my favorites being my visor cuffed beanie and my eight quarters cap that I bought a few weeks ago!

I ususally never wear hats, but when I do it's definately a touque. I only wear it when its cold enough to freeze my ears or when I go skiing.

I know people who honestly don't know what a touque is.

I don't wear hats all that often. People seem to like it when I do though I dunno why XD I have a few hats here and there. 2 Baseball caps, 2 Cabbie-style hats, 1 Beret, and my communist china hat XD;

One of my baseball caps has a Nintendo theme going on, on it while the other one is a Lacoste cap. My cabbie hats are simple black ones: one has a buckle on it, the other some embroidery. Beret is just a black one. And the last one... self explanatory right?

Aquas Nov 6, 2006 06:13 AM

I bought a few baseball caps in my Nintendo Fanboi days. I had a baseball hat that had the Final Fantasy III "III" symbol on it, it was black. It was pretty sweet. I wore it when I was like 10 and some large guy at a playground asked me about it one day. We talked about what our favorite characters were. Heh.

My hair is kind of long so I don't wear many caps either. If I'm wearing a hat of any kind, it's this blue touque hat because of the cold, but I'm often found wearing it in-doors anyway to flatten my hair more.

I wear baseball caps on the occasion, but I really want to get a fedora. Those things look awesome. I just can't find any that are in my price range. Most I see are $60 or so ._. And that's a lot of money for a hat.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Nov 8, 2006 03:18 PM

I have about 75 baseball hats. None of which I wear. :/

Bernard Black Nov 8, 2006 03:43 PM

I've recently taken to wearing a Trilby I picked up about a month ago, cause you know, everyone loves trilbys. It's too windy to wear them at the moment though; I had to chase mine down a busy main road the other week :( Apart from that, I wear my bandana. It's not essential wardrobe; I only wear it whenever I feel like it, rather than every day.

ArrowHead Nov 8, 2006 11:51 PM

I'd like to get myself a Tilley.

Trouble is, in a Tilley, you either look badass or you look like an old man. There isn't much in-between.

Zyzex Nov 9, 2006 02:43 AM

Top hat. Or maybe a bowlers hat. Both are classy as fuck.

Leveless Nov 14, 2006 04:52 PM

I'm one for beanies and knitted basket hats of earthtones, faded greens and dull orange. It must be knitted. I don't wear caps. I like those old 'news boy' things. Oh, and an abbreviated brim is an absolute requirement. I buy them from little holes in the wall or online.

They are very much a part of my image. Among all the wonderful, free spirited things that I embody, I am quite the stoner. Mix that in with DJing. Add a little trance. Sprinkle in sleeve tattoos. Stir with ego until uniformly smooth. Set to bake in Southern California until golden brown. Set out to cool. It comes out looking like a black, fitted dress shirt, dark brown, pinstripped slacks, black socks, black dress shoes, a fetching girl hoodie, a beanie or short-brim basket, sideburns down to the neck and a light chin beard.

Image really is nearly everything in the initial phase. I didn't always admit it to myself. The people who snivel about there being more important things than physicality are right. But what's their point? Ask one next time.
