Red Steel

Tom Salta, who composed the music to Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, is the composer behind Red Steel. There are 2 songs available on IGN, and a third on his site. http://wiimovies.ign.com/wii/audio/a...steel_jpop.mp3 http://wiimovies.ign.com/wii/audio/a...teel_choir.mp3 http://www.tomsalta.com/audio/behind...eavy_Theme.mp3 Personally, the so-called "J-Pop Theme" doesn't really turn me on. It just sounds lame.. but if used properly in a part of the game where there's action, it can work well as "ambience." On the other hand, I'm really digging the Choir Theme and Heavy Theme. |
yeah the J-Pop track is bleh. Wonder how it will be used in-game. Could be interesting to see image with it though.
Choir...... It sounds like a new random RPG's main theme, with a girl praying. I hope those tracks aren't among the best tracks. |
The clips are from Tom Salta's website.
http://www.tomsalta.com/musicClips.html There's one more on there, called "Heavy." I like that one more than the others. |
First post updated. Didn't realize the songs were from Tom Salta's website.

The J-Pop shit is hilarious "I SING, VERY GOOOOD, I SING, VERY GOOOOD. SUPER SONIC!" I hope that plays during a dramatic part of the game.
"The Yakuza are here, they've just killed your goldfish!" "No.. NO.. NOOOOOOO!" "I SING, VERY GOOOOD, I SING, VERY GOOOOD" 'Heavy Theme' is pretty good though. |
Someone at Ubi recently stated that Red Steel is the very best soundtrack that Ubi, as a company, has ever produced. I'm not so sure that will be the case, but I DO like what I've heard (though that j-pop song, as they call it, is just beyond strange).
Personally, I still think Beyond Good & Evil had the most powerful and memorable soundtrack of any Ubisoft game thus far. Extremely well done, it was. |
I've liked that main theme ever since I heard it in the E3 trailer.
|
Sounds a bit strange and I'm sure a song like the heavy theme would drive me solemnly mad if listened to it over an extended period of time.
|
I can't listen to it right now, but couldn't the j-pop theme possibly be mediocre/bad on purpose, since most j-pop is bleh mediocre filler anyway?
As long as it isn't an integral part of the game and serves as mere background music, it should be okay, no? |
