PC with billion of virus
 

Okay, as you guys know I am not good when it comes to PC. But I was surfing with Fire Fox, just yesterday gay pop-ups start shooting out. From Internet Explore. I disabled it to offline so it won't be shooting off like rocket.

Anyways, I downloaded ewido and scanned it [200+ malware]. It puts it in to quarantine. If it puts it to quarantine, it means it is isolated right? Than if I click "Remove" does it mean it I am setting it free or it goes buh bye?

Someone clear this up.

But the problem is that spyware software A misses what B will catch, and I've never really trusted them to catch them all.

I would also recommend downloading Kaspersky Anti-Virus and doing a full scan. AOL, believe it or not, actually just gives away a copy of Kaspersky Anti-Virus under the guise of Active Virus Shield.

But personally, last time I got hit with a bunch of malware and viruses, I just backed up my data and did a clean install of Windows XP. I never fully trusted that I had gotten rid of it all, so I wanted to be extra sure.

Of course if you're not good with PCs this might be a problem with you and you might screw up and lose critical stuff if you have any really critical stuff. It's just better and easier to defend against malware and viruses before you actually have them than it is to try to get rid of them once they're there. That's my experience, at least.

EDIT: Oh oh, and if you already have an anti-virus program then you should either uninstall it before installing a new one or don't install the new one. I can't see having two running at the same time being a good thing.

Some of these viruses are really resilient, to the point of permanently damaging Windows beyond repair once these were zapped by an antivirus application.

Like Eleo, I recommend a fresh install of a newly formatted disk.
