Where do you purchase your comics

Just a quick poll.

Where do y'all get your comics.

The subscription services sound interesting, but I like to see everything in front of me in a good ol' comic shop.

I think nerd environments are where I feel most comfortable; mostly because I can outcool everyone there. Comic store for sure son.

I pick them up a comic shop. I may not like the owner, because he can be incompetent at times, but I believe that it is a much better method than subscriptions. My dad has told me past experiences of getting comics through the mail that were torn or mangled. Being paranoid, I fear this would happen as soon as I tried doing that.

I go the online route, simply because i live in a back water part of Fl with no comic book store around within 1hr and a half drive radius.

A couple comic stores. One is a bit of a drive, but it's easily the best in the city. I've started to get to know one of the employees so we usually talk shop a little bit when I go in. He knows what I like to read, and alway recomends good stuff. Another one is much closer, but doesn't have the selection. I do however know two people that work there (used to work with them at a different job) and it's always nice to go in and talk with them. Plus one of them gave me a Bowen Hobgoblin statue for less than it was tagged for. Sweet. There is another store withing five minutes of that one that has a pretty decent selection, and is good for finding back issues.

Between those 3 I manages to satiate my hunger for comics. And action figures. And statues. And anything that catches my eye.

Comic shop. I get a fairly decent discount since I know one of the guys that works there. Not to mention I've done work there off-and-on.

I always try and go support my locale comic shop, but I also use midtown comics online shop a lot. In general, I like to go to the comic book shop not only for comics, but also the people there. Ordering from midtown is good and all but getting into conversations are board games and other stuff just by chance rules.

I go to comic book store, mostly. Since there are a lot of comic that I read are on "happend to pick them up basis" and I often stop reading something because it start sucking. Although given the chance I would rather buy trade paper back of a specific sereis if possble, those seen to last longer in terms of the reading copy. There is a comic book store within walking distance of my house (about 20 mintues walk), and another larger store at mall, so its all good. I usually go there on Wednesday, and hang out for a while, although I wonder if its okay for me to just hangout and not buy comic books. >.>

In Austin they have the most awesomest comic store I've ever been in! My roommate and I journey there for all our comic booking needs, especially since they have quite a good selection of independents and imports.

I get it from a store. It's not really a comicbook store, since they mainly sell magazines and back-issues. But they have a fair amount of comics. Mostly popular DC/Marvel titles.

I know most of the employees, present and past, and I actually hang out with these people now, so its always nice to go in and chat with friends. The store is probably the nicest one around these parts.

I don't buy my comics :D

joshi Mar 12, 2006 01:06 PM

I get mine from the quite amazing, legendary Dr. No's Comic Shop located in the quite un-amazing Cobb county.

Ryuu Mar 12, 2006 02:30 PM

I haven't bought a comic in ages, but when I did it was from a comic book store. There are quite a few of them near me.

Comic book store. I don't usually hang around for very long since Runaways and recently Nextwave are the only titles I follow, but I've met a couple of cool folks in there. Most of the other customers are into their card games and anime shit.

I subscribed to the first six issues of Metal Gear Solid not too long ago. Worst decision I ever made.

Comic book store. Know the owners very well, and it's kind of a weekly event. Whenever I go, I set aside at least an hour because I know I'm going to end up getting into a long conversation over something with those guys.

Oh, and additional post, every comic book shop I've ever been to has offered a subscription rate if you get a pull list. I honestly don't know what the discount I get is anymore, but I believe it's in the area of 15% off the cover price. Not as good as some online shops, and there's tax of course, but it's better than nothing.
