NO ADVERTISING THREADS ALLOWED, FOOL!

Well, this will be a thread about advertising. Not so much what is being advertised, but this thread will focus on your experience with the activity of advertising, and you, yourself, doing some sort of advertising.

So, have you ever advertised for a good, service, or product for either a for profit or charitable organization? For example, have you ever been in a magazine advertisement, a television commercial, or gone door to door canvassing? Stood out on the street corner wearing a mascot suit and waving for people to come in and try pizza? That counts! Gone door to door to collect bottles for your soccer team? That too! The only thing is that you are canvassing for an organization and not for yourself.

Tell us:

Were you paid or not paid for your services (or offered some sort of compenstation for your time and effort?)

Tell us which company you advertised for, or, if you’re too shy or have an agreement to not disclose such information, just tell us what the product was or if it was for profit or a charitable organization.

Did you have any special sales pitches or marketing techniques that you employed to get more sales?

Personally, I’ve done door to door canvassing, disturbing the masses of my town during their dinner, with a newspaper subscription service for the Herald in my city. Other than that, I’ve also done some door to door bottle drives.

(you're pretty dumb if you think you'd get a free ipod from me. But hey, unless you pay me $999 in shipping then you can get it for free! :tpg:)

I've never worn the suit, but I've stood outside with a sign advertising our pizzas at Little Caesars.

We didn't know why no one came in until someone pointed a mistake out:

Large 4" Pizza for $4.99.....The pizzas are 14". The District Manager thought the Assistant Manager was lying when he called to ask how to fix it--since it was pre-printed. He told me to go back outside with it--he'd be coming down soon. And people kept telling me it was wrong, false advertising--whatever. I told them I was told to display it. Luckily for me, someone called the store after the district manager arrived and complained to him. He sent someone for me, and after seeing the sign, decided we weren't lying.
So, how was it fixed? It wasn't. It was returned and a replacement was made.

And, yes, I got paid. (After all that, you think I wouldn't?)

I think that was my last time doing that, too....

I've been paid small change to knock up flyers for school events in photoshop, but nothing larger than £10.

Oh, and there was a time I was an unintentional extra in some detergent (or maybe it was paper towels) ad. It was one of those things where the reps set up a table in the high street and call upon middle-aged mothers to compare two products in front of a camera. Halfway through, I almost wandered absentmindedly between the table and the camera - One of the guys directing the thing mouthed something along the lines of "FUCK OFF" and waved frantically to get me away. I walked back and forth behind the table a few times just to prove a point.

ha :(
