Looks pretty snazzy no? Sweet... ok I've had a bit too much sugar =]

vanity_ Sep 23, 2006 06:36 AM

looks like the orchestra is pretty big o_0

but doesnt mean that theyre that good though..

snow_drop Sep 23, 2006 06:42 AM

^Well... I never implied big necessarily means better. But hey, if they're a well-formed ochestra then obviously they can hit some big scores right?

It's worth reading the reviews and checking them out =)

JellyfisH Sep 23, 2006 06:55 AM

omg lol!!!

hahhahahah wow... i actually went to their sydney concert in july.... omg the music was like .... >______________< indescribable. The place was quite small to fit everyone in, but overall, the general music was varied and well-played. Even grabbed myself some cds and merchandise lol

SeRaPH, when you create posts such as the one you did about PLAY!, how can we be assured of Eminence's professionalism? This is important to me, as I was seriously considering promoting you on my site (which isn't a tiny fan resource), though your comments there (as true as some of them were) alienated me.

The only way is to attend one of the concerts

The picture posted previously, thats for the larger concerts

Then again, every concert, large or whatnot should be good

You can buy the soundtracks, and listen to a few/all of them =)

Hmmm... well if you consider we are currently working with leading game composers on future concerts internationally and recording projects, I think it says something about the quality of the musicians.

On the other side, Eminence was founded on a volunteer basis and the first few concert were organised by not as experienced people. I cannot vouch for the professionalism in that aspect but since then, we have learnt and grown.

I don't like hiding behind a wall where I say good things that would make everyone happy about who I am and what I do. I just straight out say things which I truly believe. PLAY!, I do like the concept but it is seriously a corporate business as I do know a lot of inside info about it. Not only that, the composers who has attended PLAY! has expressed utter disappointment about the treatment in terms of the music they played and how they handled them as musicians. Not only that, they have insulted our musicians in a correspondence with one of our Production Co-ordinator after failed attempts to leach our fanbase here in Australia in exchange for nothing. In short I really don't like how they do things and neither do many of the great Japanese composers, even when I respect and praise one of the senior staff member.

Amongst the VGM composer community, it really has become a bit of a gossip...

EDIT: and the unprofessionalism of the comments I have posted is probably because I'm a musician and not really a producer of sorts. I guess my opinions are biased on the fact that I do really like our orchestra especially when we're very serious and passionate about performing these music.

chaos-child Sep 23, 2006 07:47 AM

i've been to some of Eminence's concerts recently (seeing as my sister wouldn't stop annoying me to go with her) and i was pleasently surprised that i actually liked the music performed

my sis didn't tell me details about where we were going and what were were doing and when i found out that some of the pieces to be performed were from anime i liked, i was kind of skeptical of whether it'd sound stupid without the actual anime there...

it was all good in the end though and i even went to their big annual concert at town hall this year, A Night in Fantasia 2006! =) it was even better than the little concerts at the con!

Mr. X Sep 23, 2006 08:08 AM

I wasn't asking for an elaboration on the comments you made about PLAY! What you said what perfectly reasonable and I'm glad someone did, but I felt it would have been much better if you clearly separated yourself from being part of Eminence yourself while making them. It was the dual purpose that bugged me principally.

I appreciate you're not a producer, but when you call yourself 'Founding Director/Violinist', that still means you ought to act professional, principally for the sake of the integrity of Eminence and yourself. All that said, kudos to you for not doing a Jason M. Paul and posting everywhere that the music featured in your albums is the best video game music ever created, though. :p

If you feel you're a serious Australasian alternative to PLAY!, I'd be happy to promote you and would really love to hear some of your music sometime. Good luck with your future concerts!

-=SeRaPH=- Sep 23, 2006 08:12 AM

Thanks Mr Maul!

Yeah for sure, I really do need to learn how to post professionally!

Mr. X Sep 23, 2006 08:31 AM

No problem. Sorry if I sounded like a school teacher. I appreciated your honesty, just not the lack of professionalism. :D

vanity_ Sep 23, 2006 08:39 AM

um...sorry to burst your bubble..but i still dont know what that was about...

anyway..*smiles cause she has no idea whats going on*

hsimons Sep 23, 2006 08:52 AM

Hey, I'm an Eminence staff.

Just coming back from Piano Stories IV, it was a great show. And yes, it was revealed that Yasunori Mitsuda and Hitoshi Sakimoto will be coming down for our concert in December, called "Passion".

Of course, Eminence has established firm ties with these composers, and we wish to maintain these relations for future events and special occcasions. There may be future events with these composers and more.

We were talking about this

*bursts and moves on*

vanity_ Sep 23, 2006 08:06 PM

So Mr. Maul...what do you think of eminence?

ever heard of them other than on the forums?

snow_drop Sep 23, 2006 11:25 PM

^Hey Vanity_, why don't you just try out their next concert (Piano stories 4?) Maybe it'll help you decide whether or not to go to their bigger concerts. *shrugs* Just a suggestion. Hope it helped. Cousin got tickets today XD

Also it seems the news about Mitsuda is true? Lol, count me in!

Never realised we had staff here, but guys... careful not to mix fact with opinion. I'm a growing fan (and proud of Aust companies such as eminence), so I'd like it if you don't deliver the wrong message to people :) GO AUSSIE!
