1337: hot or lame?

I ve seen some more leet speak around lately around the forums and the web in general..

Do you think "1337 $p34k" is cool or lame? and why?

I myself find it annoying after a while of numbers, misspellings and combinations of number/letter... i can stand up to one line of that

Dekoa Mar 7, 2006 08:15 PM

Please, This forum isn't for all the noobs out there that like to use leet. I hope an Admin closes this page.

Lee-chan Mar 7, 2006 08:16 PM

Leet was a fad. A dumb one at that (which actually is rather redundant). It's gotten to the point where my retinas burn when ever I see it. Bleh.

im just asking an opinion, and if you feel that offended, i just take away the link... Jeez!!

Eleo Mar 7, 2006 08:16 PM

Wow it's almost like you're trying to be a parody of all that was ever wrong or fadulous with the internet.

Your avatar proves this.

Matrix is so eight years ago.

Mr. Danielsard Mar 7, 2006 08:19 PM

this is not a matrix thread or a flaming opportunity, im not member moderating, just protecting the reason of this thread... again... its just an opinion besides talking about avatars, i prefer that than yours that you copied it from other members (the style)(that was for Legato)

Tube Mar 7, 2006 08:23 PM

G4y as hell. Who has honestly done leetspeak past the age of three months old. Let's get this shit closed already.

Yet, you posted in it.
Come now: you love it, don't you?

Proto Mar 7, 2006 08:52 PM

1337 15 phun!

But please, it's best when used in moderation. (Mostly never.)

shadowlink56 Mar 8, 2006 01:06 AM

To answer the topic based on other posts: lame.
My opinion: same.
posting for: fame.

Fjordor Mar 8, 2006 01:13 AM

Lame.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Mar 8, 2006 01:14 AM

Wow. I'd attribute the shittiness of this thread to Venezuela being way behind the times, but Juanzen is cool. What the fuck went through your mind when you made this? Did you actually expect to get quality replies?

Hi, My Name Is Hito Mar 8, 2006 01:16 AM

Fads rock, but not old ones. This sucks.

alkaline Mar 8, 2006 01:58 AM

"1337" wasn't even funny back in the early 90s. It was even less funny when it was dragged back from the depths of it's grave in the early 00's.

Now? It is shameful :(

CileGray Mar 8, 2006 02:02 AM

ZOMG! This thread is teh unF...

now seriously. The only way worth hearing of leet speak is laugh about someone stupid enough to write with it. That would be you Mr. HomerTrix...

ROFLCOPTERLOLZOMGPWND!!!!11!!111one!!!

Tawnee Van Pelt Mar 8, 2006 02:14 AM

Who is this Danielsanrdsksadasd guy?

It looks like Mr Satan, but he was more clever as far as I remember.

WolfDemon Mar 8, 2006 02:17 AM

Leet is only acceptible when Largo uses it in Megatokyo. Don't ask me why. It's just the way of things.

Traumatized Rat Mar 8, 2006 02:26 AM

Leet is possibly more offensive and annoying than AOL grammar. I've seen an AOL grammar translator as well as the Leet one and the only use for both of them is to mock people who think they're cool because they routinely molest the english language.

T0X1Qu3 Mar 8, 2006 02:29 AM

i think that 1337 is kinda lame, but you gotta admit all of yous has used it at least once

its a fad, nothing more

Traumatized Rat Mar 8, 2006 02:42 AM

I can say in all honesty that I've never used leet speak and I have no intention of stanting anytime soon. Granded, I have used AOL grammar sparingly for the sole purpose of making fun of people who are only concerned with typing in such an offensive manner.

Before the last crash, I had a rather enjoyable time decoding the atrocious typing of a member named Spicychick. She was hounded out of her journal because of her severe impediment with the english language. Anyway, I divised my little device which I dubbed the 'Ratty Translator' and used this gimmick to paraphrase her incomprehensible blabber into eloquent prose. Somehow, she didn't see the humor in this.

nazpyro Mar 8, 2006 04:19 AM

It was never really funny, but more just something you always noticed. Fuck "Leet Speak," but "1337" was just always a number that someone like myself would just notice (like a professor's room number...) and maybe even point it out (if with an understanding group of people, aka nerds).

Elixir Mar 8, 2006 04:24 AM

Suddenly this turned into aolforce.

Leet wasn't a fad, and it's still used in counter-strike and other games, but nobody actually speaks it.

Lady Miyomi Mar 8, 2006 04:33 AM

That's probably the most annoying sub-language around next to Ebonics. I personally don't care for it. What harm does it do to type correctly?

Jan Mar 8, 2006 04:42 AM

I don't know. I mean when I'm talking to people on in and IM I often use stuff like "lols" and "brb". But that's about as hardcore leet as I go. I like using smileys though. My current favourites are: >:Y , >:3 , >:L

Yes I am an angry and angsty individual. D:

Mr. Danielsard Mar 8, 2006 07:14 AM

Thanks... i just wanted a GD opinion, but i can tell that some people cant control their flaming habits (thanks to those who did)... just wanted a random opinion
