Sooo.....Here ye be

I was drawing the mannquin stuff (where it's all "DRAW THE CAPE" "curve" etc.)and my figures actually looked fuller and realer than they have for a lonf time.

Anyone have any more books which pwn/are highly reccommended liek this?

I've got a set of his books I downloaded off of the Oink bittorrent tracker. I can rapidshare them if you want. His books are pretty good I guess. Burne Hogarth has a few anatomy books which are supposedly pretty popular, but I just feel that his style is excessively dramatic and impractical. Admittedly I never read one in its entirely, though.

Loomis should be required reading for every aspiring artist.

I like this book. It was a pretty big influence on my lifedrawing style, and it also showed me that you don't have to be so heavy-handed with your values, which is nice because I do all my work with a mechanical pencil.

I used to be big into art/anatomy books when I was in High School, but reflecting on it now, they really don't do much justice to the whole "study and practice yourself" thing... Which, me being as stubborn as I am, is the only way I prefer to learn how to draw anyway.

I'm trying to 'formally' study muscles. I think this is the best way.

There are better books than Loomis' for that, like this one.

I had the Loomis book downloaded originally, however I'm going to snag the PDF here. Anatomy for the Artist is an invaluable book. I really don't like anatomy books that use drawings, Loomis is basically showing you how to draw, the other Anatomy for the Artist book uses illustrations which ultimately have the artist's interpetation.

The photograph book features very clear photos of a variety of models, men, women, black, white, asian all varieties except they are all very fit. This book is fantastic for practicing figure studies, especially when you can't use a live model.
