Pics and walkthrough are on the site

Lite version with less wavs 217 megs

Full version with 70% voices done 497 megs

Give it a shot then post something on my board ;D I'm having a bit of trouble spreading the word. It's one of the more impressive RPG maker efforts, so if you were ever curious about the potential of the program here's your chance to find out, and it'll really help me a lot to have some input from real gamers.

2 versions exists: the LITE version with only voices in the beginning (the part with the best voice acting -_-) is 217 megs and the full version which is the same but with more voices clocks at a whopping 497 megs (mostly due to inefficient wav and mp3 compression ) but thank god for storage sites like www.up-file.com and www.megaupload.com to allow me to store files at a fast speed.

You'll find that this RPG definitely has a style of its own, and is a
hybrid between an anime and a RPG, with lots of story cutscenes. A full walkthrough is included so completing the game should just be a matter of patience.

Peace out, thanks for your time

It actually looks kind of cool. To be honest I don't think I will get a chance to play it. I'm not a big fan of RPGs. It looks like you put a lot of hard work into the project, though.

Hmm, that looks like you made it with RM2k3?

TheKnightOfNee Sep 13, 2006 10:45 PM

Wow, that program sure has come a ways from when I used to fiddle around with RM2K. Every once in a while, when I see a project such as this, I wish I would've kept up with the program, and learned all the things it can do.

The only problem right now is my computer is pretty much full, and I was going to spend a day burning CD's and clearing out space later this week. Once I get that taken care of, I'll download this along with all the other things I plan on getting.

Oh snap that looks fine.

Geeze, man, i can't wait to play it. Tell me, is it gonna work with RPG maker XP?

That freaking huge. Due to that fact... I might have to try it out... out of morbid curiostiy(sp, i suck).

Good Points, Bad Points based on the Screenshots:

Bad:
- Tacky/ugly Start Screen (Looks like a couple of shop filters at best. "LOL LENSEFLARE!" kind of stuff).
- The Default font is ugly (why didn't you change it?)
- Pixelated screenshots (Which may not be so in-game)
- The picture of the ... town? Looks sparse and items seem to be randomly placed with little regard to function or purpose (Why is the house so tiny? and a Chocobo next to a cow?).
- Images of the character in battle have the HP, MP, CT words ON the image, instead of next to it.
- Several of the characters look like Sprite Versions of other RPG Characters. I see Abel from SO3, Noelle & the kid from Tales of Symphonia. Coincidence?

Good:
- Battle Sprites look customised
- Level up screen has a "Valkyrie Profile" vibe to it.
- Nice to see Visible Weapons on the battle sprites.

Other:
- "Threads of Destiny" might be too similar to Tales of Destiny or Threads of Fate, both Playstation RPGs. Maybe you should consider
a change in title to avoid confusion and possible legal bullshit?

Honestly I almost want to make my own game in RMXP just to show what a REAL RPG Maker made-game can be, but I don't want to discourage your efforts.
The whole thing does look like you put a lot of effort into it (Voice Acting and Music I want to hear to see how that turns out).

However, you need to hear construcive criticism, rather then just blind praise (Having people like your work is fine)... Only through that process of review and revision can your work improve (And genuinely deserve the praise it has been getting), no matter what kind of creative outlet you or someone else may be venturing in, as it can apply to writng, 3D Modeling, Web site design, filmography, music & vocal production, etc.,.

Alternatively, my standards may be too high since I am in college FOR game design, and I pay attention to stuff like this.

As for your site: Some of the screenshots on your site look better and show more of what you were trying to convey in asking people to 'check out your game'. You also might want to clean up and make your website a bit more professional if possible. I understand HTML can be tricky and not everyone is a web designer but your site CAN look better :) The story seems a bit cliched, but since its a demo I'll leave my story impressions for that.

And please do not take these criticisms personally, this is to help you improve everything.

I'll give a full review after I play through the demo.

I played it a little bit and I think it is good so far. The only thing that has got my attention as of now is the default font. As Dark Nation said, it is rather unattractive and is hard to read.

Nissay Sep 20, 2006 06:21 AM

Wow looks really good, gonna try it out!

jb1234 Sep 20, 2006 05:22 PM

I played it for about thirty minutes. It's interesting. I like the artwork (assuming most of it is new) and the use of music is good so far (although an original score would be even better, assuming it's competent).

The not-so-good? The voice acting (which reaches SO2 levels) and the battle system (which is slow, sluggish and really not all that fun. I found myself skipping all the battles in the first dungeon).

You'd do yourself a huge favor if you cut out the voices altogether and polished up some of the writing. Aside from my criticisms, it's an ambitious project and I commend you for your efforts. :)

I'm downloading your game right now. From the screenshots, it looks very nicely done. I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it any time soon because of school and everything.
