Having your Birthday on an "Holiday"

I don't know if people have their birthday on a holiday or a dates that somthing important happen. For those people, what do you feel about it?

Like for me, my birthday is today (yay 20 years old!) so you see that 5years ago my birthday wasn't really funny, even if I live in Canada I suspect that it didn't have an impact as big as in the US but it's sure wasn,t really funny for me (nor everyon else for what happen...)

the things that I really don't like about it, is that everytime that someone ask me my birthday and I answer them, they always repesond like: "OMG you're so not lucky!" or "wow that must suck for you", or they fall silent >.>

it's kind of anyone that a birthday is suppose to be something that you take with joy, but evryone remember more the tragedy then your birthday :\

on the other end, people tends to remember more easily my birthday because of that XD

so anyone else have their birthday on a holiday or an important date?

My cousins birthday is today. You can pretty much figure it out from there :P

I knew these twins who were born on Feb 29th. Since they only celebrated their birthday every four years, they had huge celebrations every time it rolled around.

Another friend of mine has his birthday on Dec 24th. It never has affected his lifestyle (he is Christian), but when he celebrated with his friends, they would schedule the party between Dec 25th and Jan 1st.

My sister has her birthday in early December. Needless to say, she gets gypped out of decent presents on it, due to Christmas being only a few weeks away.

A friend of mine's birthday is on Christmas day, I shit you not, he has a kind of pretend birthday during November but one year (a long while back) they left it till Christmas day and gave him one present as a joke with happy birthday on one side of the tag and merry christmas on the other, I've been told that chaos ensued.

Meth Sep 12, 2006 02:09 PM

Mine was on Sunday and I didn't even get a birthday thread. Oh well. I guess I'll be forever shadowed by 9/11. Sucks for me and for Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipović.

Acro-nym Sep 12, 2006 02:39 PM

Would it be out of place to try to rectify that by wishing you a happy birthday now? I hope not. Happy Birthday! (Well, it's really Happy Birthday-You-Had-Two-Days-Ago, but you get the point.)

kat Sep 12, 2006 11:19 PM

My birthday is 12/23, which only sucks since cheap bastards try to pass off "Oh, this is your christmas AND birthday gift".

Gechmir Sep 12, 2006 11:28 PM

12/27 here. Kat & I are in the same situation ;__; But last Christmas I was told by my mother (penny pincher) to not ask for much due to our financial status (and my dad states often that she is mistaken about their monetary status). I got NOTHING for my birthday and a reduced number of Xmas gifts ;/ Lame.

Scarletdeath Sep 12, 2006 11:36 PM

My birthday is between kat and Gech; on X'mas eve, so yeah. Double present or both in one. Usually I'm given something worth two presents though. Having a birthday on that day is strange, since it's always on a holiday and all; everywhere you go, people are in a festive mood so it feels kinda nice. Not like it matters much though, I don't normally celebrate my birthday. I get presents and wishes, but I don't throw parties or making it a big deal.

well thanks XD

and yeah I think it could suck to have its birthday on Chrismas or close to it... I could imagine the parent that put the christmas gift as a birthday gift too XD

lol my mother say that almost every year that she doesn't have a lot of money for christmas and every year me and my sister seem to get more or bigger gift than the year before XD

Marl Sep 13, 2006 08:19 AM

Around 1/365 of the 6.5 billion people on earth were born on christmas.;)

I however, have the pleasure of having my birthday on Thanksgiving every few years. Which is a blast, due to the break and the food.

Well I can't say I understand, but I graduated not more then a week away from my birthday.
So my birthday was overshadowed greatly by the whole graduation "excitement".
Also, didn't get really any presents for either specificaly.

But who's to complain right? It's just the day you were born. It didn't bother me much, and I'm sure it wouldn't if it my birthday was on a holiday.

Kolba Sep 13, 2006 01:04 PM

Mine's on new years day, which might be the best time ever to have a birthday, because older relatives are more inclined to proffer cash when they're pissed up. Sorry, I should say 'merry'.

I have no idea if there's anything special whatsoever about the eighteenth of September. Then again, I haven't done anything about my birthday for the past three or four years, so it wouldn't irk me if it was on Christmas day or something.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO INHERT!!!

Sucks to have your birthday remembered as a day of tragedy. Together, we can take back 9/10 and 9/11 as days to rock out!

Dalkaen Sep 13, 2006 03:27 PM

My birthday's on December 22nd, so I've experienced the "these presents are for your birthday and Christmas!" phenomenon. :|

BIGWORM Sep 13, 2006 11:23 PM

My immediate family were all born on holidays, including myself:

Memorial Day (me)
Mother's Day (my mother, coincidentally)
St. Patrick's Day (my brother)
Veteran's Day (my father)

Yeah, I know, my family's a freak show.
