How do I secure my network with a WEP key?

I recently noticed that my wireless network is unsecured, and I wanted to put a password on it. Now I am still new to this networking stuff, but I read about using a WEP key to put a password on my network. How would I go about doing this? I currently have a Linksys 8.02b wireless router, and have three computers with Linksys wireless pci cards connecting to my wireless router.

You don't.

WEP isn't security at all any more. Give me a P3 Laptop and I'll have it cracked inside of an hour. Use WPA, which isn't perfect but is MUCH better.

A filter on the MAC addresses of the machines you wish to connect to your network combined with WPA is a good way to go. Oh and hide you SSID

the only thing that can make you use WEP over WPA is if you own a nintendo DS and you want to use your router with it, because the DS doesn't suport WPA. Beside that go for WPA for better security...

MAC filtering in general is pretty useless. Its absolutely trivial to find and spoof an authorized MAC address, and unless you are good about auditing your network you wouldn't know it happened.
