From Bulbanews
This year is the tenth anniversary of the Pocket Monsters series, better known globally as Pokémon. A special full-orchestra concert of the Pokémon game soundtrack to commemorate this event, 10th Anniversary: Pokémon Happy Birthday Concert ~ Our Pokémon! First Symphony ♪ ~ (10thアニバーサリー ポケモンはっぴーバースデーコンサート ~ぼくらのポケモン!はじめての交響曲♪~), has been announced.

Club Nintendo members who have registered their Pokémon games are invited to enter a draw for a seat at the concert. Applications must be received by September 25, 2006, 3PM JST. Club Nintendo members and non-members who register their Pokémon games before the deadline are also eligible for entering the draw.

* Composer: Jun'ichi Masuda (増田順一)
* Master of Ceremonies: Mayuko Takata (高田万由子)
* Arrangement and production: Shigeaki Saeguchi (三枝成彰)

Each member is allowed to bring one guest - in the case of minors, the guest must be a parent or other caretaker. In total 1775 members will be selected randomly, for a total of 3550 guests.
The site listed four dates of the concert: October 28, November 5, November 12 and December 10.

Wish I could attend. Now somebody better make a recording and/or Nintendo better release a soundtrack! :(

Make a soundtrack release, dammit. Yes, that would be awesome. Nintendo hasn't released a new CD in ages, and this is the best way to give tribute to ten years of Pokemon.

So wait, what is it exactly? An orchestral concert of the music from Pokemon Red & Blue? I wonder how many tracks they'll perform...

Kaleb.G Sep 8, 2006 08:46 PM

I'm still waiting for the Pokemon Gold & Silver soundtrack.

WHERE IS MY SOUNDTRACK, NINTENDO!?

WELL, WHERE IS IT?

Basil Sep 8, 2006 09:18 PM

I doubt it'll only be music from Red & Blue though, the soundtrack has 45 pieces of music, and the rest is all sound effects. But it could be possible, I dunno. I just hope to see at least one song from every Pokemon game made.

Kaleb, I have the gamerip. PM me if you want it.

This is great. I have really enjoyed the BGM from the games. Maybe Masuda will have them play some of the BGM from the upcoming Diamond and Pearl games.

They just say "Pokémon game soundtrack" so lets assuming it's from the GB, GBA and maybe from the DS too.

Hopefully they include some town themes, I'd have to say those tracks are my favourites in the series (Goldenrod City, Fortree City...). Also, some route themes wouldn't go stray, but I highly doubt they'll include any of them.

They'll probably use the "Sea", "Pokemon Gym", and "Fight (VS Gym Leader)" from Red/Blue.

You can't be to sure about the route themes, the most notable to my knowledge would be "The Road To Tokiwa ~ From Masara" (Route 1), "The Road To Shion ~ from Kuchiba" (Routes 12-15), and "The Final Road" (Victory Road) from Red/Blue also.

Seconded. It's disappointing that they passed over that installment.
I did end up making my own gamerip of G/S using an emulator though, but it turned out one already existed, so it felt like a waste. I did manage to remove the sound effects from the battle tracks on mine. But I didn't equalize the tracks before encoding, so it doesn't sound great in the higher frequencies (unless I use the EQ on playback).

...

Anyway, I really hope there's a recording of this released. Pokemon arrangements seem pretty few and far between, even in the fan arrangement community. It'd be nice to have something besides the Pokemon Medley from the Smash Brothers Live Concert.
