2006 National Novel Writing Month (November)

I didn't see a thread for this on the first few pages, so thought I'd start one for this year.

I've actually taken about a week off in November to work on this. Which means I have about 7 weeks to come up with an idea and outline it. To facilitate this, I'm going through my 42 back-up CDs and filing all my old stuff. My HD crashed early last year, and although I recovered the files from it the filenames were lost. So, for example, I have about 520 Word files to go through and figure out what they are. Many of them are fiction/poetry. I have to see what I've already started on so I don't use that for an idea. However, I also have some lists of ideas, and something from there might work for this year's project...

How about you - how many years have you done Nano, and what are you doing this year? For me, this will be my 4th year, and I will be doing fantasy/speculative fiction in some form.

Sign-ups for 2006 have just started on the official forums. Of course, if you're returning from a previous year you can use the same login/password. They have wiped the forums (the old forums will be available in archived version). It's officially the season. :D

This will be my third attempt at being a novelist. I stopped after two weeks in both '03 and '04. I really hope I finish this time!

Hmmm... I've done it 4 times.... 2 official two just for fun (03 summer, 03, 04 summer, 04). I'd love to do it again but I just don't think I'll have time... it's always a blast to see what you can come up with. I'm quite bingy though, so I'd commonly do like 10 000 words in a day on like the 22nd just to finish early. I know i could do it in 15 days if I really tried, but frankly I'm not sure I can even handle that. Time sucks this year.

I'm going for it this year. This is my first attempt, so I'm pretty psyched... as long as nothing drastic happens I think I'll make it. I'm working on a really cheesy urban fantasy story... sans werewolves and vampires. This idea has been floating in my head for a while, so I've aready have large bits of the plot and characterization worked out. Hopefully I'll have some time to do some outlines before November starts.

I joined last year, but failed miserably. However, I'm still working on my novel, right until now. And I have to say that this is quite possibly my best work. Not saying much, but still saying something. :)

I doubt I'll be joining this year due to all sorts of crap school and life throws at you, but maybe next year, if I'm finished with my current novel (very doubtful) or if I had brilliant plot that just begs to be written down (or I could just chuck it into my current novel).

But still, NaNoWriMo was fun and awesome. Everyone should join it if they can!

Woo! Starts tonight at midnight. :D I'm taking the rest of the week off work, so by next Monday I hope to have 10,000 words done at least. (I still have some planning to do so I will be able to ramp up more towards the end it seems...)
