Cast Away-Like Movie?

Can you guys recommend some movies like cast away? I really like movies that have to do with survival. I've already seen Alive, and Touching the Void. Both were really good. Any other ones I should watch? Thanks in advanced!

Obvious one: Lord of the Flies.

The Terminal is kind of like Cast Away. It even has the same starring actor!

Oh yeah forgot to mention I've seen LoTF. I'll check out The Terminal. Keep the suggestions coming. Can't get enough of these type of movies. Thanks for the suggestions btw.

If you don't mind films are that a little older, The Nake Prey is a fantastic movie. Takes place in Africa where this guy is being hunted by a local tribe and he has to survive out in the wilderness on his own while avoiding these crazy local trackers. Awesome soundtrack as well.

"Phone Booth" I recommend.... although its not the same exact type as Cast Away.

Naked Prey? sounds interesting.

Just thought of a good one: 'Walkabout', about two English kids stranded in the australian outback. Good visuals.

Yeah, and when you're done with that, you should watch all the seasons of Gilligan's Island.

Talk about survival.

Are you thinking of "A Far Off Place" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106868/ or is that a different film?

To me, Castaway was about the loneliness that Hank's character encounters, and the endurance of the human spirit. A similar film in my mind would be Dr. Zhivago, therefore. But, I sense you're looking for "adventure" genre films? There are also a lot of different version of Robinson Crusoe: http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=Robinson+Crusoe

No, there is a movie called "Walkabout" I just saw it and it's a really good movie. I think I'll check out "A Far Out Place" Thanks for the suggestion!

You should enjoy any and all star trek.

It's not really a movie... but it's an AWESOMOOOOO tv series.

Lost. I doubt you've never seen it... if not, please die. =)

GrimReaper Sep 22, 2006 02:35 PM

Yeah, I've seen every episode of Lost so far...can't wait for season 3!

How about "Land of the Lost" lol... there might be a TV movie version of that, what with all the different iterations.

If you liked A Far off Place, I remember another movie about kids walking across the desert called Cheetah. http://imdb.com/title/tt0097053/
