So my professors went on strike...
What should I do - I have at least 3-4 days to burn... any suggestions? I live in toronto - give me ideas.
|
hmmmmm... eat, play counter-strike, do homework, learn a foreign langugage, get laid and/or waisted. I'd go with the counter-strike though
|
Move to Manitoba. No strike, cheap tuition, lower energy prices, cheap insurance, and not as cold as it used to be in the winter.
|
I think we both know that those 3-4 days are going to be speant getting stoned. Isn't that right Locke?
|
I thought you lived in Hamilton or somewhere outside Toronto, Locke.
I'll take you out for drinks. |
Go to China town and hang out in the mall. I hear it's huge. There's got to be good food there. Montreal China Town food is freat. Oh, and get some bubble tea while you're at it.

Must be nice that your professors went on strike...
Mind if I ask why? You live in Toronto? Go see The musical version of the Lord of the Rings and write me a review so I know if I should waste my time and money. |

Can't you just walk around almost aimlessly and be able to find something to do. |
By the way, do you go to UoT or Ryerson? Just wondering since my brother's profs might have also gone on strike.
|
Smoke weed and wonder where those 4 days went.

Maybe you could go interview the professors and create a hilarious video that chronicles the strike.
(Why are they striking, anyway?) |
lecturers in england are on strike today too, here it's about money as always, but my department's not affected but i hardly ever go in anyway i just spend my time doing other things.
go hang out with your friends or join them in the strike since if they go on strike it's kinda forcing students to go on strike about learning >.> you live in a city and everyone knows life's not all about work/study |
Because they're a bunch of pussies - hiding behind thier antiquated union.
I'm at Seneca - it's only colleges in ontario that are off, universities are on as normal. |
First thing you should do is ask what to do on a forum.
Then, spend the next 3-4 days evaluating everyone's suggestions. |
Why not try to get laid?
|
Incidently my univeristy staff had a strike today o.o
Uni not coughing up their pay rise and what not =\ |
Haha, maybe I'll agree with Godai and we can go for that drink.
|
I'm in the same boat as Locke, but I live in Ottawa.
I wonder how long the strike will last, though. One of my teachers was around for two other college strikes (back in the 80's) and he said they each lasted several weeks. I don't mind getting an extra long study break, but if it goes on for too long it'll probably get pretty boring. But Ottawa's pretty dull on its own, I guess. |
Heh locke, my buddy goes to college in Ottawa and he's on strike too... could last up until september it seems.

Man, I'd be so lucky to have one of my professors do that here... I could certainly use the free time...
|
You're on a college campus, there are going to be no classes for at least three days, and you have NOTHING to do? Seriously?
If you're that bored and aren't savvy on the get drunk/laid ideas (you poor, poor soul), I'd suggest getting ahead in your studies... Or something. Striking teachers were actually piss the hell out of me, considering how much money is going into my education. |
ROADTRIP!!!! there's nothing like it. head out on the road, see the country, visit new places...
i've did it 5 years ago for 2 months. absolutely loved it! |
