If you were a game company CEO...
Well, sounds a little off-topic but its interesting anyway: Imagine that you are a game company boss and director...
- What name do you use for your company? - If you made a console, what specifications do you use? - If you can buy a game software company for use it as a second party, what company do you choose and what titles do you made? - If you can made a game as your "killer ap", what type of game do you made for your console? For me, i always thought that if i can made a company in the 90s i was made it a Neogeo-specifications console in 93 with a 6x cd-rom device but with 8 mbs of RAM for boot storage, so the games doesnt load too much... I use Treasure as a second company: Their are really an awesome company and i guess that with more money in those years they will be giant company as Konami, Capcom or Namco. Also i thought that the "R.E.A.L." genre like Shenmue needs to be more exploded, i love to see a game with that gameplay but with a girl as a main character who travels on a more fantasy world, sounds like a "RPG" but with the "live simulation" intact... |
Shenmue isn't R.E.A.L.. It's F.R.E.E.
Anyway, I wouldn't want to be in the hardware business. Too much risk involved. Buying a second company for assistance in development, it would probably be Bioware (Assuming Nintendo isn't a choice, since they are easily the best developers in the world.). Not only do they have tons of experience making quality RPGs, but they even have experience in kick-ass action games, with tons of dark humor (See MDK and MDK2). Blizzard is another good choice too, but I'd rather work with a company that makes new IPs, rather than recycling old ones. My ultimate idea for a game would be a space-based MMORPG that is actually good. Making your own ships, and space-based dogfights, with a hundred worlds or so of a gigantic size to explore. Many different races and languages, as well as technology and powers. Admittedly, Blizzard will probably do this when (And I am 99% sure they will) they make Universe of Starcraft (World of Starcraft doesn't have that kind of scale). But Bioware looks to be making my dream a reality, albiet in offline form, but that experience could be handy for the creation of an MMO with these features. |
When I was younger I used to dream about owning my own company and even made a list of names to call it. I still have it and looking back, it's terrible. I still want to own my own company but right now I'm not thinking too heavily about it.
From my list, I'll pick American Hairless People. If I made a console, it would be the best of the best! And use technology similar to the Wiimote. For a buy out, it would probably be BioWare or UbiSoft. I'd probably be bought out by them before I do it to them. For a killer app, it would have to Dragon Masters, a game concept I've been working on since high school. A medieval style RPG with branching paths and other gameplay specifics I'd rather not go into much detail at the moment. I'm sure I talked about it more elsewhere on the board. |
I dunno about the things you asked, all I know is that I would pour lots and lots of good ol' 2D games. 'Nuff said.
