Can't Copy DVD >.<

Whenever I try to copy this movie from the DVD... I FAIL... tried Nero 6.6 and Sonic DVDPlus... any ideas?

Rydia Mar 7, 2006 12:51 AM

I use DVD Shrink to copy all my DVDs, and I've never had a problem. Even copy-protected DVDs have been just fine.

I'm not sure if you would want to try this, but maybe try making an image of the DVD and then burn?

Kaiten Mar 7, 2006 01:03 AM

Nero isn't meant to copy DVDs (at least ones with copy protection, which is well over 99% of all commercial DVDs). Use Rydia's suggestion or DVDDecrypter, which will work with almost all DVDs.

Radical Mar 7, 2006 01:04 AM

If it is copy protected then use DVD Decryptor to decrypt the image and then either copy it to your HD or to a DVD. You can then use DVD Shrink or some other software to re-author it if you'd like.

DVD Decryptor & DVD Shrink are best programs for copy DVD

Tsunade Mar 7, 2006 08:33 AM

K I'll look into those... thanks for the suggestions...

Kaiten Mar 7, 2006 11:41 AM

If you use DVD Decrypter, it will have a wealth of options, just decrypt the DVD and ignore anything else (otherwise you could make a bad copy).

hey what program would you guys reccommend for ripping a dvd onto your comp then compressing it? Im trying to put a dvd onto my zen vision m, since the copy of the dvd i d/led was preety crappy quality.

Misogynyst Gynecologist Mar 7, 2006 12:13 PM

Are you talking about compressing it and then watching it on your computer - or compressing it and burning it to disc?

I've found the vast majority of downloaded DVDs I get just suck massive balls. If you can get the real deal and copy it, do it.

I'm not all too familiar with DVDshrink since I've often used it to copy but No. 1 DVD ripper lets me rip and compress into divx which is nice.

Shrink is easy.

Open disc. Click backup. Insert blank disk when told. Done.

I'd like to know how you could put the copy of a DVD on your computer using DVDShrink and then encoding it to XviD/DivX so you can burn onto a 700MB disc.

You should be able to do that with AutoGK, albeit, in my experience, it works better with a rip from DVD Decrypter. (AutoGK supports an encoding something or other that will fit the movie to a CD's size.)

DVDDecrypter is a much better ripper than DVDShrink.
Yes, but the problem is a lot of DVD movies are Dual Layer, which DVDs for that are expensive (usually $2+ a disc). So a lot of people will use DVDShrink to make it a DVD5 then burn with Decrypter.

A simple one click program specifically portable video/audio players.

You'll have unlimited capabilities with it for 21 days and after that it's up to you.

DVD Shrink's intended use was for compressing, it should never be used as a ripper. You'll find that it chokes on certain DVD copy protections, mainly Sony. The best way to compress a DVD9 disc to DVD5 would be to use, Decrypter for ripping and DVD Rebuilder w/Cinema Craft Encoder Basic/SP for compressing.

It's a wonderful program, not just for shrinking, as you said, but for editing out stuff I don't want.

As for editing, I wouldn't recommend it. Reason being is if you use a still or web image to edit out unwanted extras there is still a good amount disc space wasted. I've seen DVD Shrink edit using a still and it left 213MB of unwanted video for a still. :aargh:
If you want to blank some video then I recommend using Vob Blanker, it'll properly edit out unwanted extras and also remove those unwanted trailers upon DVD insert. Then again you could use PgcEdit and use the jump to menu function to save yourself the trouble. :p

DVDShrink or DVD Decrypter are good for games copy-protected ?
