My Death Space

Has anyone posted about this? Has anyone been here? Basically, its where all the people who have died's myspaces are archived and it tells a little about what happened to them.

I personally found it very sad, because it puts a face to the names you see in the news. Most deaths are car related, and its not suprising to say the least, but there are quite a few suicides and shootings as well.

I think this is a good topic of discussion because many people think this will lead to more suicide amongst teens, and I think its just the opposite. Its sad to me.

Edit: Evidentally I cant post URLs, because I dont post much, if at all:(

Figures, Ive been visiting the site since it actually had MP3s, but every crash resulted in me posting less and less.

the site is mydeathspace.com

Man, a quick browse through this site already has shivers going down my spine. I don't think this is a site I'll like much.

*AkirA* Aug 29, 2006 12:36 AM

I found this kinda disturbing. Its like a graveyard for all the people you rag on when you make jokes about myspace.

Oh fuck this... I didn't even feel like posting more. This is MySpace after all and guess what? No rurprises here, my friends.

knkwzrd Aug 29, 2006 12:44 AM

Any feelings of sadness I might have for any of these people were immediately blocked after seeing this website's colorful matching buttons for sale.

That sounds pretty morbid. To me, Myspace just seemed like an interactive hybrid of Live Journal and your own glorified website. I've even heard people talking about it in public, including friends who wanted me to make my own profile and add them. Maybe I've underestimated their community, but I still say whatever it's not my cup of tea.

R.I.P.

Arkhangelsk Aug 29, 2006 12:54 AM

The thing that creeps me out is how people leave comments on their dead friends' MySpaces that sound like they're actually still alive. For me, that just is disturbing.

It's rather sad to see how a lot of these people died, especially the suicides and drunk driving accidents. It's so cliche, but horrible to see it put right in front of you.

Paco Aug 29, 2006 01:05 AM

Just for shits and giggles...

YOU BROKE MY LIFE.

It will only be funny to those who were in that argument pre-crash. :p

*AkirA* Aug 29, 2006 01:06 AM

I just hate how young all of them are. Average age seems to be 17-22. I hate that our society seems to find suicide so easy to turn to. Ive hit rock bottom before, and Ive never considered suicide in the least.

Conan-the-3rd Aug 29, 2006 01:21 AM

400+ Deaths...>_>

I'm amazed Myspace still has customers.

gidget Aug 29, 2006 01:22 AM

This site doesn't have everyone on it. There are at least five kids from my high school that have died that had MySpace pages, and none of them are on there.

Also, I can't stop reading these.

*AkirA* Aug 29, 2006 01:28 AM

He gets more then he can add. He doesnt update as someone dies.

gidget Aug 29, 2006 01:29 AM

Obviously, but all of them have been dead anywhere from one month to a year and a half.

Paco Aug 29, 2006 01:32 AM

Well, I think the reason for that is that he runs the site purely on hearsay submissions. You probably know of the kids who died from your school, but if no one submitted them to the webmaster, then obviously they won't show up here.

Why is this site so... oddly fascinating?

Not to sound like a cruel asshole, but this is like an online obituary for all the people you hated in high school.

The thread Capo made right? I couldn't remember who did what to that boy's Myspace that drove him to actually kill himself. I vaguely remembered there were authorities involved?

Myspace is like a gathering site for suicidal teens. They should just call it Diespace.

Anyways, R.I.P.

Yeah, I just realized that there is a "Submit a Death" link at the top.

Wow..some of these deaths were brutal. What a terrible brother.

brenden3010 Aug 29, 2006 02:26 AM

I cant post links yet, but there is one of two people who climbed inside of a helium filled balloon and died.

Some of these are because of stupidity, but the drunk driving ones always catch my eyes.

Lizardcommando Aug 29, 2006 02:32 AM

What exactly do you mean that you can't post the link?

Getting back on topic... So many of them are suicides. Should I be suprised or not?

Unas Aug 29, 2006 06:36 AM

Awful lot of suicides alright, then again myspace does have millions of members so some people were bound to be, erm, upset.(to avoid controversy)

Oh that's just fucked up. They're gaining profit from people who have died while having a myspace account?

Jesus.

Its the circle of life. Myspace is an internet monster. Something like this was bound to happen eventually.

He doesn't have enough posts to be able to post links, yet.

Ontopic... This is both strangely gruesome and interesting at the same time.

I poked it and it made a sad sound Aug 29, 2006 09:54 AM

See, now, I found it really interesting. I think it's good that people have a place that they can "talk" to a person they miss. Yea, sure, it's MySpace. But this seems to be a popular medium for kids around their age.

I think it's kind of neat.

Of course, I'm sick in the head.

I also spent the last 20 minutes reading some of those links posted by Enceph. Really kind of sad, you know.

And I really doubt it has anything to do with MySpace. If you consider how many goddamned accounts MySpace has these days, it's only probable that you're going to see a lot of teenagers dying. Suicides happen with teenagers a lot - MySpace is just a big clusterfuck of a bunch of kids anyways.

I think it's interesting. But I think the cashing in on kids' deaths (MyDeathSpace) is fucking retarded. Suppose any way to make a buck is alright these days.

Wish I'd thought of it first.
