Nintendo Revolution Discussion Thread

So the question is, how long will the initial excitement of this gimmicky merchandise last. I'll admit I'm interested to see what becomes of this console, and at a probable price point of $49.99, I may even pick one up myself.

I doubt I'll be doing many fishing/conducting/probing/mopping simulators with the controller, but it might actually turn out to be pretty cool for shooters and who knows what.

The hope for me that it isn't a true gimmick piece of equipment: if they play the cards right on the controller, it just may come to it that the hardware becomes adopted to some extent elsewhere.

lol, "probing". I can imagine a lot of fucked up games coming from this.

And what's this about $49.99? Is that for the whole system? And if so, do you have a link of such speculation/statement?

Borg1982 Mar 2, 2006 03:29 PM

I'd pay as high as $299.99 myself.

I said that until some actual Nintendo Revolution news came out that there would be no new thread and I meant it. I also have stated that only Pom, Megalith, and Infernal Monkey may create that thread. So until then this thread is stickied and closed.

Revolution to play Mega Drive (Sega Genesis) and Turbo Grafx-16 games.

FatsDomino Mar 23, 2006 04:05 PM

I'm thinking we won't have a Rev thread unless someone can convince me otherwise. As cool as having Sega Genesis and Turbo Grafx-16 games on the Virtual Console is and a rival to 360's live arcade where dev's can put small new games on for cheap and that will all be similar to iTunes, it just isn't enough. Most of Iwata's keynote was devoted to DS with the new Zelda game being the only big new item to come out of that.

If I were to allow a new Rev thread I can really only see people coming in saying ""Oh well lol I can do this on my computer anyway, Nintendo is a gimmick and over." and a bunch of people getting flustered by these comments. Really from the latest news all we can do is discuss the virtual console, how downloads might work, how storage might work, the future of the virtual console and what more stuff could be added, any extra features like Rev-DS connectivity, and at the end of the day we can speculate and we just won't know. In-between all that will most likely be the usual drama and needless bullshit. Unless Nintendo releases something inbetween now and E3 (and they won't) there isn't anything in my eyes worth reopening the Rev thread discussion for especially since I still don't see anything but a repeat of the last 3 attempts.

Ah you guys amuse me greatly. And by that I mean I chuckled here at some stupidity but for the most part I mean "dissappoint me". I thought my previous post explained why I wasn't allowing Revolution threads right now but no I get to add two new threads to the Revolution thread failure cluster.

Feel free to read any of the "discussion" that went on in those threads if you want via the following links. =)

Revolution games = 49.99, USB ports for storage a go go
Updated Revolution specs on IGN

Oh hahaha and so I don't confuse those reading, this thread is of course still closed.

Change of plans

Okay, I've changed my mind. And with that I'll unsticky this thread.

Here is the Pre-Pre E3 Revolution thread. Read the first post and follow the rules or get lost. Enjoy. =)
