Unreal Tournament 2007 - trailer

UT shall dominate the FPS industry again. More so... some interesting notes... I hear they got rid of dodge jump (boo imo). Graphical improvement for sure. THe hoverboard you see can actually do tricks. New necris and revamped axxon vehicles.

Dopefish Aug 23, 2006 06:59 PM

UT went downhill since 99 IMO. I won't have a computer capable of running this as I would hope to so I don't know if I'll be getting it, which is disappointing.

Spyer Aug 23, 2006 10:21 PM

Holy shit, what is this, Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict for the PC??!

Rock Aug 24, 2006 03:37 AM

Graphical improvement is about the only thing that sets these Unreal Tournament games apart.

This is yet another hyped game I'm not even remotely interested in. Besides, the hoverboard action looks incredibly stupid. Everything else has been done, done and done. Next!

Read the thread title?

And done and done? 64 players FPS is a done thing? Unrealistic futuristic combat may be done before but UT did it the best. (look at the average scores of UT2k4 which first introduced its onslaught game mode). UT2k7 is going to take it to the next level.

As for game going down hill, I can't say its the game's fault totally. It seems that everyone is into realistic shooters these days rather than the fast paced unrealistic shooter.

You haven't even played the game and you're writing it off already. Rather sad...

Epic Games said there will be a beta demo released in the future for players to try out.

Only to the next level of hardware, I fear.

Omnislash124 Aug 24, 2006 02:36 PM

Meh, I wouldn't totally dismiss a new Unreal Tournament game. It's actually pretty fun with friends. While it doesn't exactly add anything new, that doesn't make it any less fun.

Rock Aug 24, 2006 02:40 PM

Yeah, because the moment a new Unreal Tournament comes out, its predecessors aren't fun anymore. Seriously, what is wrong with PC gaming?

I believe he's referring to the fact that there are more than....you know...2 teams. Maybe.....64 teams?

Rock Aug 24, 2006 02:49 PM

64 teams with one player each. It's called deathmatch. He said 64 players. It doesn't matter how many teams there are, the limit is still 64. And it's been done.

galen Aug 24, 2006 03:10 PM

That's completely ridiculous. How can you even get any kills with that many players in a map.

Why ask me? Ask people at Sony and Microsoft? Yet the formula works and it still works even to the present day. If you aren't interested in the game then GTFO.

Anyways back on topic ffs

I can't wait to try out the Necris vehicles. The spider walker vehicle looks fun to play. I wonder if hitting specific parts of a vehicle would affect the overall HP of the vehicle...

How can you NOT? If you're at all familiar with....any of the other ones, there are people EVERYWHERE. All the time. Adding one element to a fast-paced game is enough.

Nevermind the fact that the game runs on a completely new engine.
Note: Haters of this will probably end up pre-ordering it for their console...:eyebrow:

Are you serious? It's impossible not. Pick up a Rocket Launcher, Fire a shot in a completely arbitrary direction, and more than likely, there's somebody there caught in the blast. If you're lucky, it'll be a MONSTER KILL! :)

I said what I said because I played Unreal Championship 2 and it looked pretty much identical to shit. I'm aware that this is an Unreal Championship 2007 thread.

Omnislash124 Aug 24, 2006 10:01 PM

So yeah, what's the new playmode they added this time? Or did they just revamp what was already there? I'm pretty clueless of what's going on with this new game of the series.

Lukage Aug 24, 2006 11:26 PM

I don't remember what it's called, but this is the video they showed with it to kinda explain what the new mode was.

Single Elbow Aug 25, 2006 01:42 AM

I won't go as far as saying this -is- the definitive FPS game since the only overhaul is graphics for the most part while there are some added tweaks.

That said, I am going to buy this.. as soon as I spend a couple hundred bucks to make this run. Which will be like next year or so.

Omnislash124 Aug 25, 2006 08:12 AM

Hmm....the new mode is somewhat reminiscent of the Unreal Counter-Strike....

"The Explosives are in Place"
"Bomb has been Planted"

I see some similarities....:lolsign: still looks fun though....

Oh man...

Dude Unreal Championship and Unreal Tournament are different games!

I'm a fan of UT, but I have to agree. This trailer was rather disappointing with the only real difference being the handful of new vehicles and hoverboard.

The graphical leap also seems to be far less than that from 99 to 2003/2004.

The trailer shown does not have graphics set on maximum as I heard from an Unreal tournament forum

I may not be remembering correctly, but i believe tribes 2 allowed upwards of 64 players in a server with a gamemode similiar to deathmatch (may have been a mod).

Though, if ut2k7 allows sharing of cdkeys like ut2k4, then sounds like a good LAN to me.

speculative Oct 1, 2006 10:12 PM

Onslaught was a great addition with the release of UT2k4, and the only real reason to buy the game, imho, over UT99 besides the graphical updates. The sound (voices, effects etc.) are worse imo, although I am sure they are "technically advanced," I can never hear the taunts while in UT99 they come through loud & clear & hilarious.

I hope they go back to more of a UT99 "humorous" style vs. the ultra-real style of UT2k4. Even the mods had a different flavor. I just love shooting "smiley-face" flak balls from the flak cannon in UT99. Time will tell whether this is another UT99 or another UT2k3. They need to bring back the Domination mode from UT99: the current one is too much like the other gameplay modes.
